My dad was born in Jakarta in 1923. In those days Indonesia was colonized primarily by the Dutch, French and Germans – my dad also claimed that we were part Irish as well- I’m not too sure about that, but dad wasn’t big on making up stories. That really cute guy in the middle of the picture is my dad. Those other guys are just a small portion of the people known as my family. He died on Saturday morning. He was 83 years old and today would have been his and my mom's 56th wedding anniversary. He was strong until the very end and my mother, sister and I held him as he died.

I'm going to write more about him later, but right now I need to be with my family.
