movie recommendations
Mon, July 28, 2008 - 11:32 AMI've been totally immersed in school for the past year, and now I need to catch up. So tell me: What were your favorite movies of the past year and a half, in any category? And, why? (I will say that I tend to pass up Hollywood blockbusters, but if they're supercalifragalistic and unusual in some way, feel free to include.)
I did manage to see No Country for Old Men and part of Things We Lost in the Fire, which I walked out of.
Thanks a million for contributing to my cultural improvement.

You might have seen some of these, but......
* Stardust... for fun and imagination! :-) very cute! - definite date film ;)
* The Departed...Scorcese! mamma mia! * Crash - older (2005) not a date film, but interesting commentary on society, and script * City of God - (2002) you might have seen, but if not, the "pulp fiction" of brazil * Stranger than fiction - (2006) but goofy, fun, and original..who woulda thought will farrell could play it straight |

I saw Iron Man only because my friend paid for my ticket and wanted me to go. I was not expecting to like it at all. I usually avoid Hollywood crap. But it turns out I loved it! Very fun.

Dark Knight
I saw the Dark Knight. I recommend it. It was beautifully sadistic. Heath Ledger in a sexy nurses costume, need I say more?

I enjoyed the Life Aquatic. Yeah, not so new but I don't get out much so I am lucky to get to watch anything on dvd even. If you give me time I'll send you a list of movies I liked but it will take me some time as I totally forget them almost after watching them. Waaay too much happening in life to remember much besides whether or not I've showered that day or not.
