Buy Me Things

I hate it when people have "Wish Lists" or "Stuff I Want" on their websites / profiles. This is a marketing gimmick thought up by Amazon. Well, and by any place where people have their wedding registries.

Look, if I know you well enough to give you presents, I probably know what you want. If not, maybe I'll think of something better that you haven't even thought of yet. Did you ever think of that?

I just think the online beggary is getting out of hand.

Once Upon a Time

The King of the Fish was not happy.

He wanted to be more than just to be the King of the Fish.
He wanted to be King of the whole Ocean.
He wanted power over the whales and porpoises,
Giant sea tortoises,
Mollusks, crustaceans, and all the underwater plant life.
And he wanted to own all the Salt in the Ocean.
He was a big fat pig of a Fish.

His greed angered the Ocean,
But the Ocean knew the Fish would never succeed.

Then, the Fish learned to walk on the land.
He stood upon the shore and laughed at the Ocean.
He climbed trees and learned the secret of fire.
He took a job as a investment banker,
And spent a lot of time at the racetrack,
Playing the Ponies.

The Ocean swore revenge...

Events or the Lack Thereof

I Can't Get No
We went to see Devo last weekend. They are awesome to the extent that their oldness and philosophy allows them to be, which is pretty awesome.

Guess who opened for them? Bow Wow Wow, which if you don't remember is the band with that album with the naked 14 year old girl on the cover. She's a band member, so apparently in the 80's that superceded any child pornography laws. Also, she's foreign, so there it is.

Ghosting Pole
I was at the post office getting stamps, since today is billing day and the goddamn post office hasn't sent our personalized (well, businessalized) envelopes yet. Even though I ordered them a month ago and they charged our credit card.

The guy in front of me was buying a $500 money order with $1 bills, and naturally there was only one window open.

Stop the Insanity
Bought my ticket for Burning Man today. Kind of mixed feelings here. Why spend so much money and effort to go someplace so unpleasant?
[deleted] Some of it is curiosity; what can umpteen thousand people possibly do in the middle of nowhere to make it worth doing over and over? And there's the adventure part of it. Some of the adventure is the mere being able to afford such an ambitious venture.

We shall see, shan't we?

and he has excellent taste in food
(you'll have to excuse me i was just reading some seuss)
he's nice and interesting
intelligent and funny
i guess you have to have those qualities to have a radio show
or do you?
i'm glad to have this one as a friend
he even thinks my kid is alright
you KNOW that's a way to get a parent to like you

Jerry = Joy. One day my dream is to share a lunch with Jerry where we eat burritos and talk music. When he talks computer talk it makes me feel two ways: stupid and thrilled. Jerry is the extra sour cream in my steak fajita burrito. I'm a little bit country; he's a little bit rock n' roll.
