Neil Finn- Crowded House THROW YOUR ARMS AROUND ME I will come for you at night time I will raise you from your sleep I will kiss you in four places I'll go running along your street I will squeeze the life out of you You will make me laugh and make me cry We will never forget it You will make me call your name and I'll shout it to the bluesummer sky We may never meet again So shed your skin and lets get started And you will throw your arms around me I dreamed of you at night time And I watched you in your sleep I met you in high places I touched your head and touched your feet So if you dissapear out of view You know, I will never say goodbye Though I try to forget it You will make me call your name and I'll shout it to the bluesummer sky We may never meet again So shed your skin and lets get started And you will throw your arms around me Yeah you will throw you arms around me (repeat to end) lyrics by:mark seymour-

to the love and gratitude I have for all my women friends. You are my eternal mirrors and guides and without your reflection and embrace there would be nothing. "without each-other there would be nothing.." (John Lennon) uk.youtube.com/watch WOMAN -j.Lennon Woman I can hardly express, My mixed emotion at my thoughtlessness, After all I'm forever in your debt, And woman I will try express, My inner feelings and thankfullness, For showing me the meaning of succsess, oooh well, well, oooh well, well, Woman I know you understand The little child inside the man, Please remember my life is in your hands, And woman hold me close to your heart, However, distant don't keep us apart, After all it is written in the stars, oooh well, well, oooh well, well, Woman please let me explain, I never mean(t) to cause you sorrow or pain, So let me tell you again and again and again, I love you (yeah, yeah) now and forever, I love you (yeah, yeah) now and forever, I love you (yeah, yeah) now and forever, I love you (yeah, yeah)...

Her work is my inspiration for my own paintings & poetry. She uses images found in myth, poetry, spirit and magic. Her use of color, organic feminine forms and mystical thought is beautiful and divine. Her vision is vast and her poetry an inspirational ode to the earth, the stars and to the greater mysteries that dwell beyond time and space. If you resonate with the energy of mother earth and know that the stars are our beloved jewels then check out her website. www.devaluna.com ************* MY MUSIC: Deva Premal mantras: www.youtube.com/watch www.youtube.com/watch www.youtube.com/watch accoustic version Sea Of Love...by CAT POWERS- www.youtube.com/watch *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* From her website: Artists are the modern day mystics, the seers, the translators, who negotiate two worlds. One of bright exteriors, measured by the senses, perceived as real. The other a veiled interior of permeating undercurrents, pulsing with possibility, beneath and beyond all we know. One is dream, the other true. Stars and seeds I see wink inside all shapes between. In each humble unhollow cell potential's potent ringing bell sings dark bits to bright explosion. Raining keys in colors pulse, sink and strike chords and notes upon the lid of heart and eye. Overfull will spill the seen unseen stars and seeds. FULL MOON FLOWER A vessel once filled with ashes has broken open and a pure stream runs through it while honey pot wasps hover over a cache of resin. The resonance of birds weaves through the village. A woman full with open petals and the lore of plants sits at her lookout of closed eyes and sends her spirit into the houses of those who need doctoring: A feverish child, a pregnant woman, like an open portal, an elder man, soon to be welcomed through the flutes of heaven. In her umbilicus she carries amber that entire civilizations can be traced to- A seed that fell from a jaguar coat, a leaf vein from a fig, who, like a woman, bears it’s flower deep in the interior, a mosquito whose blood holds the DNA of a feathered lizard in its gold entombed body and a vine scale that stretches back in time before two continents split apart and gave birth to an ocean. Her back is strong and upright from shuttling across the loom like the weavers of ancient cities and her arms large from carrying water, children, fire sticks. Leaves spread out behind her and before her and the medicinal flowers train up her ladder and into her arms. Let her countenance and her wisdom spread over the land and jump ship to other land masses where a hundred monkeys work picking oolong tea And let the jaguar prowess of her catch the light in her belly as she bundles stalks of divination, blood red petals velveting life, healing wine fermenting in the shadows. krista.
So this is what I'm listening to while I work tonight. Possibly one of the greatest albums and songs of all time.

Oh let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dream I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen They talk of days for which they sit and wait and all will be revealed Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace, whose sounds caress my ear But not a word I heard could I relate, the story was quite clear Oh, oh. Oh, I been flying... mama, there aint no denyin Ive been flying, aint no denyin, no denyin All I see turns to brown, as the sun burns the ground And my eyes fill with sand, as I scan this wasted land Trying to find, trying to find where Ive been. Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace, like thoughts inside a dream Heed the path that led me to that place, yellow desert stream My shangri-la beneath the summer moon, I will return again Sure as the dust that floats high and true, when movin through kashmir. Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails, across the sea of years With no provision but an open face, along the straits of fear Ohh. When Im on, when Im on my way, yeah When I see, when I see the way, you stay-yeah Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, when Im down... Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, well Im down, so down Ooh, my baby, oooh, my baby, let me take you there Let me take you there. let me take you there
I have always loved this song and have tried singing it in gaelic but I personally sound awful...This song goes right into my roots and into my heart even though I do not speak gaelic.

Iain Ghlinn 'Cuaich (lyrics) www.youtube.com/watch O Iain Ghlinn' Cuaich, fear do choltais cha dual da fas, Cul bachlach nan dual 's e gu camlubach suas gu bharr, 'S i do phearsa dheas ghrinn a dh'fhag mi cho tinn le gradh, 'S nach' eil cron ort ri inns' o mhullach do chinn gu d'sail. Ach an trian dhe do chliu cha chuir mise, a ruin an ceill, 'S caoimh' faiteal dhe d'ghnuis na ur choille fo dhruchd ri grein, Gum b' e miann mo dha shuil a bhith sealltainn gu dluth ad dheidh, 'S math a b'airidh mo run-s' air ban-oighre a' chruin fo sgeith. Iain, Iain, a ghaoil, cuim' a leig thu me faoin air chul, Gun ghuth cuimhn' air a' ghaol a bh'againn araon air tus? Cha tug mise mo speis do dh'fhear eile fo'n ghrein ach thu, Is cha toir as do dheidh gus an cairear mo chre 'san uir. Ged a chinn thu rium fuar, bheil thu, Iain, gun truas 's mi 'm chas, 'S a liuthad la agus uair chuir thu 'n ceill gum bu bhuan do ghradh? Ach ma chaochail mi buaidh, 's gun do choisinn mi t'fhuath na t-fhearg, Tha mo bheannachd ad dheidh, 's feuch an tagh thu dhuit fhein nas fhearr. Translated at last: Oh John of Glencuaich it does not seem right that you should be so beautiful, Your tresses, in ringlets, are tightly curled to the tips, Your upright handsome appearance has left me love-sick, And you are faultless from head to heel. But, my love, I cannot relate one third of your merits Your presence is more refreshing than the sun-kissed dew-bedecked young trees, I long to have you always within my sight, My beloved is well worthy of defending a royal heiress. John, John my love, why did you abandon me so completely, Without any reminder of the mutual love we once shared, I have never loved any other man on earth but you, Nor will I ever love anyone else 'til my body is interred in the soil. Although your feelings towards me have turned cold, Are you, John, without pity for me in my plight, When you so often declared your undying love for me But if I have so changed in character that I have earned your hatred and anger. My blessings still go with you, and if you can, try to choose someone better. ---- CAPERCALLIE- The Band Throughout their career Capercaillie have drawn on two great strengths to inspire them. The first of these is the astonishing musical dexterity of the various fiddle, whistle, flute and pipe who have performed with them over the years, lead by the accordion and keyboards of band founder Donald Shaw. The other foundation of the band has been the peerless voice of co-founder Karen Matheson, described by Sean Connery as having "a throat that is surely touched by God". Universally recognised as one of the finest Gaelic singers alive today, Karen’s exquisite voice has been at the centre of the band’s music, whether breathing new life into 400 year old Gaelic songs or bringing her luscious vocals to the band’s contemporary compositions... There have been many milestones for a band who have sold over a million albums world wide. These include three silver and one gold album in the UK, the first Gaelic Top 40 single, writing the music for, and appearing in the Hollywood movie "Rob Roy", and performing in over thirty countries including Iraq, Macedonia and the Sudan. Capercaillie have been credited with being the major force in bringing Celtic music to the world stage, and their unique fusion of Gaelic culture and contemporary sound has always stretched boundaries in their quest to keep the music evolving. It is a mighty long way from Oban High School to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon in Baghdad, but Capercaillie have made this journey and stopped off at many other exotic locations along the way . However, their greatest achievement has been to mould a central strand of their Gaelic heritage into a fresh, new sound, capable of reaching out to the ears and hearts of people all over the world.
Aphrodisias- Temple of Sacred Love

Situated amidst rolling hills, 30 kilometers from the town of Denizli in southeastern Turkey, the splendid ruins of Aphrodisias contain what was once the preeminent temple of the goddess Aphrodite in Asia Minor. Yet long before the Greek sanctuary of Aphrodite was constructed in the 1st century BC, the site was a holy place and pilgrimage destination of immense importance to other cultures. Archaeological excavations conducted in 1913, 1937 and 1961 indicate the existence of a settlement since at least the fifth millennium BC, with separate layers identified as belonging to the Chalcolithic, Bronze and Iron ages. Ancient sources furnish only scant information about the city. According to the Byzantine istorian Stephanus it was founded by the Lelegians and was first known as Lelegonopolis. The name of the city was later changed to Megalopolis, and later again to Ninoe. This name may derive from Ninos, a semi-legendary Babylonian ruler or, more probably, is connected with the Akkadian Nino, Nin or Nina, these being names for the goddess Astarte or Ishtar. The affinities between the cults of Ishtar and Aphrodite are well recognized by scholars and therefore Aphrodisias is quite probably a Greek version of Ninoe. The use of the name Aphrodisias began after the 3rd century B.C. The similarities of the goddess Aphrodite to Artemis of Ephesus and other Anatolian mother goddesses are evident in cult statues found at the ruins. In Hellenistic times, she took the form of an ancient nature goddess who was sovereign on the earth, in heaven, and in the oceans and the underworld. During the Roman period of the 1st to 6th centuries AD, Aphrodisias became a rich and important city, known as a thriving trade center and for the excellence of its school of marble sculptors. Despite the advent of Christianity and the establishment of a bishop in the city, paganism still lingered for some centuries at Aphrodisias because of the great popularity of the cult of the goddess. Under the Byzantines, the city was renamed Stavropolis (Town of the Cross) but the local inhabitants preferred to use Caria, the name of the province (Geyre, the name of the modern village occupying the same site, is probably a corruption of the ancient Caria). When Christianity was made the state religion of the Byzantine Empire, the pilgrimage shrine of Aphrodite gradually declined in importance, to such an extent that the names Aphrodite and Aphrodisias were erased from all inscriptions and sculptures. As was their habit of ruthlessly destroying the religious sanctuaries of other people, the Christians demolished the beautiful temple of Aphrodite, broke up its many columns and erected a church where the temple had stood. Arab raids, religious disputes, political and economic pressures, and a number of epidemics and earthquakes marked the further decline of the city. Very little is known of the history of the city after the 7th century, sources of information being confined to a few religious documents and lists of the names of the bishops. Archaeological finds appear to point to a short lived revival in the 11th century, followed by the incursion of the Seljuk Turks from Anatolia between 11th and 13th centuries. In 1402 the town was attacked by Tamerlane and then completely abandoned. In the 15th and 16th centuries the fertile soil of the area attracted new settlement and the village of Geyre occupied the site of the ancient city of Aphrodisias. The name Aphrodisias is derived from Aphrodite, the goddess of nature, beauty, love and plenty, and her temple was one of the most famous cult centers of the goddess in the entire Greek world. As Aphrodite Urania she was the goddess of pure, spiritual love and as Aphrodite Pandemos she was the goddess of sensual love. She was married to Hephaestus but was also the lover of Ares, Hermes, Dionysus and Adonis. Located atop a series of earlier temples, the temple of Aphrodite formed the center of the city. All that remains of the ancient temple consists of fourteen of the over forty Ionic columns that once surrounded its courtyard. This temple was probably begun in the 1st century BC, added to during the reign of Augustus and completed by Hadrian in the 2nd century AD. The building would appear to have been what is known as an octastyle temple with thirteen columns on each side and eight columns at front and rear. The discovery of several mosaic fragments belonging to the Hellenistic period indicate the existence of an older temple on the same site, but with the conversion of the temple to a church in the 5th century all traces of the older building were destroyed. Directly to the east of the temple of Aphrodite and functioning as its monumental gateway is a grand Tetrapylon constructed during the reign of Hadrian (AD 117-138). The process of repairing and re-erecting the four columns of the Tetrapylon was completed in 1990. The city of Aphrodisias also features an agora, or market area, several buildings that are believed to have been schools, and the finest preserved stadium in the eastern Mediterranean, capable of accommodating over 30,000 spectators. awakeningtheecosoul.com/soulscapes.html Why the Name Soulscapes™? Soulscapes™ form the heart of my work, the meeting place for the soul and nature – the merging of inner and outer wilderness. They go beyond an aesthetic or scientific understanding of the natural world, to include a mystical and soulful appreciation of what it means to be part of the earth community, connected to all living things. Archetypal in nature, these Soulscapes™ are readily identifiable and recognizable as parts of the human soul, and the wisdom lessons in each have been tested and refined through workshops, keynotes, and sessions with individual clients. The following is a short tour of the Soulscapes™. I hope it will give you a glimpse of how the terrain of earth and soul are perfect reflections of each other. When entered into in depth, they can change the landscapes of how you live, work, and dream. 1. Deserts In the deserts of the heart Let the healing fountain start. —W.H. Auden Just as the vast and spacious deserts of the world cover about twenty percent of the land, so the desert Soulscape™ represents a significant, though infrequently visited, landscape within us. We come to the desert to transform. Here, winds named Khamsin, Sirocco, and Simoom make and remake the land unrecognizable, surprising. And here, too, death and disappointment reshape our inner landscape, inviting something new to be born within. Entering the desert Soulscape™, we also confront a world hell-bent on noise pollution, overpopulation, excess, and denial of death or suffering. As we make our pilgrimage to this holy place, we find wisdom and strength to lay bare the bones of our souls and to live more simply on the Earth. 2. Rivers and Oceans "There is a River, a Holy River, that flows inside my heart." —Yogic Chant Water covers an astonishing seventy percent of the earth's surface and comprises the same percentage of our bodies. We arose from an ancient sea of amniotic fluid and were birthed in the watery womb. We had fins before we had fingers. We breathed water before we sucked air. Just as the waters of the world shape the topography of our landscape, so the flow of our longings gives depth and direction to our lives. And yet, failing to recognize how we dam, pollute and despoil our oceans and rivers, we can also be blinded to how our own longings are despoiled. In this Soulscape, we learn how to clean up our desires and let our natural longings flow once more. We discover the source of our true joy and aliveness. When we do this, our planet's water flows more cleanly and freely too. 3. Forests Today I have grown taller from walking with the trees. —Karle Wilson Baker Enter the forest and you enter an unstructured environment, one that hasn't been shaped by the regular lines of Euclidean thought. The beauty of the forest lies, in part, in its absence of order. While it thrives on a delicate ecological balance, its burgeoning presence gives the impression of the deep unknowable. In the forest, we return to the natural shape of our souls—the spirals and swirls that form the heart of our being and our galaxies. But too much forest has been cut down; too much sacredness has been felled, too much diversity destroyed. This Soulscape explores how we can protect our ancient trees and ancient wisdom and how, by restoring the diverse heart of our own creative souls, we can stand tall like the trees we need to save. 4. Mountains One day you finally knew what you had to do, and began... —Mary Oliver, the Journey We live in times that require us to face the truth of who we are, and to what we are committed. As you journey through the mountains, you'll learn how to take a stand and create your own weather—one that won't cause global climate change. You'll discover how a life without healthy risk can manifest as destructive behavior. You'll trek the ranges of Mt. Media, Mt. Corporation, Mt. Religion –and look at the shadows they cast. You'll explore the devastating practice of mining, and see how you too have been mined for what's of value. In the process, you'll discover the granite and grandeur that resides at the center of your being. 5. Meadows Will you ever bring a better gift for the world than the breathing respect that you carry —William Stafford In the meadows, herds of antelope and other creatures gather to drink from the river, homesteaders declare their long journey over and put down roots, and the mountain river slows to a steady stream. A wide expanse of meadow is like an invitation settle down and rest awhile, create community, celebrate, and offer thanks. In a world that loves only one season—the growing season—learning to rest and be grateful can do much to redress the problems of over consumption, overwork, and unchecked growth. In putting down roots and cherishing our place in the world, we learn to build relationship with all our neighbors—and not just the human variety.

I experienced an initiation with this song playing in the background. I went on an inner journey and saw myself somewhere, somewhere past, present, future...a place that is here in the now and is real. An enchanted place that has never faded, a place so intimate, so warm, so loving, a place that dwells inside of me... I saw myself celebrating a ceremony with my ancient people, my true clan of the tribes of light, the people of the mystery, of the woods...I saw myself inside an eight pointed star orchestrating a symphony in the stars...then I moved my awareness towards the centre of an old grove of large trees...They were magnificent, keepers of knowledge...magestic beings...I saw myself calling myself...then ancient designs on the sand appeared...symbols that vibrated...I saw my ancient face and I knew then that I was Mordana...of the dark night when the trees are crowned with leaves...my ancient pagan roots and the song of beltaine... So this is the song that triggered these memories...and connected me to this one magical place that dwells in me- THE MUMMER"S DANCE When in the springtime of the year When the trees are crowned with leaves When the ash and oak, and the birch and yew Are dressed in ribbons fair When owls call the breathless moon In the blue veil of the night The shadows of the trees appear Amidst the lantern light Chorus: We've been rambling all the night And some time of this day Now returning back again We bring a garland gay Who will go down to those shady groves And summon the shadows there And tie a ribbon on those sheltering arms In the springtime of the year The songs of birds seem to fill the wood That when the fiddler plays All their voices can be heard Long past their woodland days Chorus And so they linked their hands and danced Round in circles and in rows And so the journey of the night descends When all the shades are gone "A garland gay we bring you here And at your door we stand It is a sprout well budded out The work of our Lord's hand" Loreena McKennit (from the album: Book of Secrets)

PEOPLE who knew Iolani Luahine tell stories about her mystic abilities. Some say the dancer, chanter and teacher of Hawaiian culture -- known as the high priestess of hula -- had powers that defy explanation. Dorothy Thompson, who annually shepherds the Merrie Monarch hula festival, was a close friend of Luahine's. Aunty Io could call up the wind and the rain and could make animals do her bidding, Thompson said, but Luahine's greatest gift was dance. "Her dance was her life and her story itself," she said. "Io was such a beautiful person, an extraordinary dancer. She seemed like she would go into a trance. And her movements were like nobody else's." Luahine was born Harriet Lanihau Makekau on Jan. 31, 1915, in Napoopoo on the Big Island. She was raised by her grand-aunt, Keahi Luahine, who was a proponent of the ancient Kauai school of hula and who began teaching her hanai daughter to dance when the girl was 4 years old. When struck by an illness that affected her eyes, a kahuna nui (seer) was consulted. The kahuna nui said the child had to be renamed Iolani, the name for a native hawk, and soon her eyesight cleared. Luahine, who died in 1978, gained renown worldwide. She was invited three times to perform at the National Folk Festival in Washington, D.C., and was named a "Living Treasure" in 1972. She was a free spirit, "a person who absolutely knew who she was," said Maggi Parker of the Kawananakoa Foundation. Thompson recalled a rainy day in Hilo in 1969 when Luahine was to march in a parade. "She told me the parade had to start on time, at 1 o'clock, because the rain would stop for only two hours. "It poured cats and dogs. At 1 o'clock on the nose the rain stopped, and at 3 o'clock the rain came down."

Be a light unto the world, and hurt it not. Seek to build, not to destroy. Bring my people home How? By your shining example. Seek only Godliness. Speak only in truthfulness. Act only in love. Live the Law of Love now and forevermore. Give everything, require nothing. Avoid the mundane. Do not accept the unacceptable. Teach all who seek to learn of Me. Make every moment of your life an outpouring of love. Use every moment to think the highest thought, say the highest word, do the highest deed. In this, glorify your Holy self, and thus, too, glorify Me. Bring peace to the Earth by bringing peace to all those whose lives you touch. Be peace. Feel and express in every moment your Divine Connection with the All, and with every person, place and thing. Embrace every circumstance, own every fault, share every joy, contemplate every mystery, walk in every man’s shoes, forgive every offence (even your own), heal every heart, honor every persons truth, adore every person’s God, protect every person’s rights, preserve every person’s dignity, promote every person’s interests, provide every person’s needs, presume every person’s holiness, present every person’s greatest gifts, produce every person’s blessing, and pronounce every person’s future secure in the assured love of God. Be a living, breathing example of the Highest Truth that resides within you. Speak humbly of yourself, lest someone mistake your Highest Truth for a boast. Speak softly, lest someone think that you are merely calling for attention. Speak gently, that all might know of Love.
