"Rightness"

I spent 12 hours yesterday, sitting/running/climbing/skipping/dancing and tripping alone on a beach in deep contemplation essentially rewiring my brain. I was questioning EVERYTHING, and then questioning why I was questioning things so much.

What was it I was questioning?

I was questioning the concepts of "right" and "wrong", at the most microscopic, seemingly "obvious" level, as well as the impossibly chaotic level. It seems that the second we accept anything as being absolutely 100% "RIGHT"....we are essentially "wrong" in that we've accepted something as absolute, which means that when change happens (it ALWAYS does) we grasp on to our "rightness" and struggle against the change. I applied this to EVERYTHING that I experienced on the beach.

I guess struggling against change could be considered the ultimate human dilema. Always searching for what you think is right, what is comfortable, searching for that concept/feeling of being "home"...but then as soon as we think we've found "home"..."home" changes. When we see someone or something that seems "better" than what we are or what we have...then we label it as "right" and start to copy it...But then become UNHAPPY when "they" or "it" goes away or changes.

So now the ultimate question becomes: How do we make this logic work for us, and incorporate it into our lives? All I came up with is that we must go through life, essentially "bumping" things into what seems like the "right" direction at this MOMENT, then letting go of them and our concept of thier "rightness" completely, and quickly "bumping" the next thing. When something seems obviously wrong...then do what you can to accelerate it's change...BUT when something seems neither "right" nor "wrong" then leave "it" alone...because "it" must be balancing and that is exactly how it SHOULD BE!!

Amen.
I totally follow you.
I like your analogy of going through life bumping things into a direction... then letting them go... to see what they become.

What a wonderful moment...
I thank you for your post. I also find myself questioning. What is righteous? What is happiness? What are the answers I need to feel content? My conclusion is very close to yours. All we have is this moment. We can plan for tomorrow, we can reflect on yesterday but the time is now. I choose to be the best person you can be. Here is a quote I love and try to remind myself of frequently….

Be content with what you have;
Rejoice in the way things are
When you realize there is nothing lacking
The whole world belongs to you.
