Morley is absolutely excellent. No more than five minutes after I'd met her I got one of the best hugs ever in my life.
She likes fire, and flamethrowers, and who could ask for more? Not me. I'm glad she's my friend.
Yay, Morley Roarly!

Morley is the awesomest BFF a girl (or a boy, or a cat, or a bear, or an abandoned mine shaft) could have.
She is inspirational, she is fucking smart like whoa, she is creative, and she kicks ass at costuming and fursuits and engineering and life in general.
Morley gives good hugs, gives good advice, gives a shoulder, an ear, a hand, or a chocolate bar as necessary.
She helped me sew my first furry costume. She introduced me to the joys of playing with fire. She's tried to hug me while wearing rusty sawblades on her shoulders, and I let her. I love Morley a lot! Yay!

Morley gives a shit, in a fur suit. She cares, deeply, about the whole fucking world, and owns a pair of fractal lycra hotpants. That pretty much sums it up.
Look. I knew plenty of brilliant people who are working their asses of in the hope of a better tomorrow. Environmental engineers, aid workers in far away places, journalists, that sort of thing. I also know plenty of talented people who build fire art, sew their own animal costumes, and have an (ahem) advanced knowledge of neurochemistry. I don't know very many people who do both.
Morley is the good time we should all be having on the weekends, when we're taking time off from curing cancer and/or digging latrines, your choice.

I'm not even sure where to begin, so I'll just cut to the end. Morley is one of my favorite people on the whole planet. Nuf said.

Real furries think she's cute, too! I chortle at the thought of you! Love, Gilbert, the testmonial fairy!

about me
I like to play with, study, taste, look at, talk about, and climb rocks. I drink tea. I sew. I avoid wearing drab colors, though I'm developing an appreciation for brown. I love fire, particularly technical fire sculpture. I like taking baths, baking banana bread, and curling up on the couch. I also like raging all night parties and traveling to exotic places.
I love my job. I get paid to help design public transportation and solar panel arrays. Lately I spend a lot of time analyzing the stability of levees and recommending how to fix them so folks don't get flooded out of their homes.
When I'm not slaving away as a geotechnical engineer, I spend a lot of time in the shop. I'm currently helping with fabrication of Michael Christian's newest piece, Elevation. Next up: Interpretive Arson's new monster, the Firewalker, anticipated summer 2009.
I'm a punchy bear. I'm a snuggly bear. I'm a talkative bear. I like to make other people smile, and I like it when other people go out of their way to make me smile. I like bears who are open and loving, and bears who have an attitude and don't take shit.
Hello all you I'm-too-cool-for-Burning-Man types! I will be attending Burning Man this year - I'm going for almost a full two weeks. I'll be out on the playa early for Elevation setup (Michael Christian's sculpture, which I'm helping build).
I find myself in need of three rather large items. Before paying exhorbitant amounts to rent/buy, I figured I'd ask y'all for help. If you're skipping the burn this year and you have gear that will be sitting un-used, please consider loaning it to me!...

Hello Bay Area folks!
Tonight I had a crappy end to my week - I discovered that my beloved 1986 Toyota pickup, BonBon, was stolen from her parking spot in the Mission. She disappeared some time between 10:30 pm Thursday night and 10pm Friday night (and no, she wasn't towed, I've triple-checked that). I've filed a police report, but I'm not holding my breath.
Still, please keep your eyes peeled! She's red with gold trim, with a white and faux-wood camper shell. Bunny on the front radiat...

Here I am in Jim's apartment in Shibuya, doing some last minute research on Tokyo Damage Report to hit up a few select spots before my Japan trip draws to a close. It's hard to believe it's been a month - sometimes it feels like just a few days, sometimes it feels like several months, but it rarely feels as if the past 3 1/2 weeks have passed in any sort of typical chronological fashion.

My remaining plans for the four full days I have left:
Monday - Find a nice park or temple i...

Last night I went with an American friend to see/hear Paul Van Dyk spin at club Unit in Ebisu, Tokyo.
I'm glad I went, though my main realization of the evening was that no matter where you are in the world, trance is trance and clubs are clubs and I'm not a huge fan of either. I'm a breakbeat in the desert kind of girl.
Still, I can add "Paul Van Dyk in Tokyo" to my list of intriguing musical experiences!
