Me, Pre-Exodus, Burning Man 2008

"How do you protect your camera?!" If you ask me this, it tells me you didn't take any photos at Burning Man.

What do you think the correct answer is?

By early Saturday I was getting irritated that there hadn't been enough dust at this year's Burning Man. I was so excited when the dust storm came and I could go out and take photos!

In my humble opinion (and experience), the answer is: you don't. You can get a new camera, but you can't get those photos again. I won't let worrying over my equipment keep me from shooting -- and I suspect you don't, either.

All the horrible headaches of the dust aside, it's a beautiful aesthetic and I love to shoot in it -- my favorite photos are of dust.
