You are an American Tribal Style Belly Dancer! So it's not one hundred percent authentic, but who cares? It looks really cool, you have a great time doing it and the costumes are fantastic. You're not into all the glitz of cabaret but you can never have too many Kuchi medallions on your turban. Undulate on, tribal chick!

(Hey, I got that one right!!)

the carpool lane is for DRIVING in

I've counted the number of drivers who were poking along in the fast lane - and (horrors!) the Carpool lane - while talking on the phone. I lost count. :( Okay, so I'm a bit of a phone-while-driving snob since I have handsfree bluetooth in my car, but seriously - if you can't manage to drive AT LEAST as fast as the cars around you, please SWITCH LANES and get the hell out of my way!!

The carpool lane is not for chatting mindlessly in while other lanes of traffic pass you. To drive in the carpool lane you have to either drag someone with you into your car, pay for one of those fancy carpool stickers, not to mention get up at an hour when humans are really meant to be sleeping and head out to your destination. When I manage to do this, I don't want to be slowed down by someone that's meandering along while other drivers are maneuvering around them while they chat.

Ack!!

Can we please have legistlation that makes it illegal to talk in your car unless you're on hands free? PLEASE?

This rant was brought to you by too little sleep and not enough caffeine before noontime. And yes, I really DO feel better getting that off my chest. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.....

Okay, so I had a dream where I alternated between being a mom, a sibling to the boys, and floating above the whole thing narrating. It culminated with a real-live (well real-dream-world) demonstration of the alphabet....A is for Apple...blah blah blah... then we got to T... T was for Tarantula.... and yes, the frigging tarantula (which is HUGE in comparison to a baby sized version of you, keep in mind) was crawling all over my baby hand! And then I woke up. YEESH. And NO, I don't really want to know what that says about me. It was all very Gaimanesque... but creepier....

Okay, so it's two months now, and I can remember my name and do basic arithmetic again....
and *sometimes* I even remember what day it is!!! This is good!

Suffice it to say - Twins are a LOT of work, but worth it. And I wouldn't have it any other way....

The boys made their debut December 20th. Both are happy, healthy, and we're adjusting to life as 4 instead ot 2. It's a lot of work, but oh-so-incredibly worth it. I've never been happier (or more tired!).

I'm still getting comments about the largess of my belly - but since it's a number of weeks vs. months, I'm approaching it with a more zen-like attitude. Most of the time anyway. I am still ME after all. ;)

Trying to keep them baking till after Christmas - and focusing on that instead. Wish me luck!!

I am now a liar.....

Okay, so I'm 31 weeks along. With twins. And they're healthy and good sized so in reality I'm about the size of a full term single birth. I am not the only full-term-looking pregnant woman to ever venture out in public. But I often feel like I'd draw less attention if I was 8'2", or sporting an additional head.

I went for a pedicure last night - and the comments began - "Oh, you're really BIG!" (Um, yeah, no shit - I'm the one that carries this body around all day and I"m not that big, I'm just not 5'2" and a size 2 like you are.")

And then the dreaded....."When are you due?"

I have two choices - I can tell the truth and listen to barrage of comments about how much bigger I'm gonna get [gee, thanks] how much harder it's gonna be having two at once [uh huh, thanks for the unsolicited advice], and how I'll never get any sleep for months on end [yeah, thanks, hadn't heard THAT one before either!] .........OR
.....I can lie - and get congratulations on how I'm almost done, and how exciting it will be to be a mom.

So - I lie. And I feel kinda bad about it, but remind myself I came to get a pedicure for a bit of RELAXATION for gawd's sake.

Then I walk to the bookstore - and at the corner, are a group of women talking loudly amongst themselves - "Wow, look at her." (Uh hello, I can HEAR you!) "She's ready to pop!" "You think she's ready to pop?"

"Uh huh, yeah, you know you're ready to pop, don't you! They've now figured out I can actually hear them and are trying to address me - but I'm ACROSS THE STREET at this point. I keep walking.....

What in the world makes people think that just because I have a big pregnant belly that I can't hide, gives them the right to make unsolicited comments?!? I want to get a t-shirt that says, "If you must make comments about my belly, I will be forced to make comments about the most prominent part of YOUR anatomy. You are hereby advised to KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!"

And then I fell like a ball of overblown hormones......I can see why sometimes it's easier just to stay home..... sigh.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060912/od_nm/spain_models1_dc

While I'm not a fan of size based discrimination for either end of the scale (pun intended) I DO think that actively trying to find models that are not dangerously thin is a good thing.

The pressure to be thin thin thin is still too pervasive in our society, and creates an unflinchingly raw and simply unattainable ideal of beauty for many. Growing up in fashion driven LA and not being waif thin OR blonde, I have some idea of being force fed an ideal that just isn't attainable without major medical intervention or unhealthy habits.

We're way overdue for an attitude shift, and while this may be swinging a bit in the alternate direction, if we end up closer to a healthy mid ground, I'm a fan.

Had a chance to ride the recently updated "Pirates" ride at Disneyland this weekend. Things had a generally spiffed up feel, but not overdone at all, and in good keeping with the original theme.

My favorite Capt. Sparrow appearance is him peeking out of the barrel. It's been my longtime fav ride, so I was a little apprehensive before seeing it, but came away pleased. Nice.

Okay, it's official. I'm starting to feel distinct movement in my belly, and I've come to a couple conclusions. The boys are wigglers. And it's nice to feel that this seemingly ever-growing belly is expanding cause there really *are* little people growing in there. It's a very good thing.
