Hiya! I'm a nice, easy-going, strong, successful guy, back in the Bay Area after spending a couple of years in Australia to get a master's degree. I love music, especially classic rock, jazz, and dance. I especially love concerts, particularly at smaller venues like Villa Montalvo and The Mountain Winery. I love eating out with friends, having delightful conversations while sharing a great meal. I've lived in the Bay Area for most of the past 20 years, except for a couple of years (2002-2003) when I lived in Melbourne, Australia. I love to travel, and I've been all over the world for both business and pleasure, but the Bay Area is where I feel at home.

Physically, I'm fairly tall and imposing; I follow a pretty serious workout program (3-4 mornings a week at the gym), and my trainer tells me that my build resembles that of a pro football offensive lineman. I'm very strong and fairly fit, though I still want to lose a few more pounds.

I'm usually fairly quiet, and I'm really not as intimidating and unapproachable as I look, though; I'm really just a big teddy bear.

Professionally, I'm very successful, and I'm reasonably well known and respected in my field; I'm coauthor of a book that's considered a canonical reference on its topic, and I often speak at conferences and other professional events. I also do a lot of volunteer work, such as helping the local fire department teach community disaster preparedness classes and spending 2 weeks in Mississippi as a relief worker after Hurricane Katrina. I really enjoy spending a week at Burning Man every year, for a total change of pace.

I'm looking for someone who is smart, self-assured, dependable, casual but not sloppy, and fun to be with; someone who enjoys good food, good conversation, good music, and good friends; someone who loves to travel, but also loves to curl up at home with somebody special.
