Alhana is..earth and fire mixed with movement like a wise sweet mother and an affectionate sister. She can cook a mean mexican dish without her normal ingredients, she knows just about every theological goddess there is, and spending time with her feels like tunnelling back to all the ancient sisters throughout time. She can open like a rosebud but is a strong and solid as a mountain. Spirit“s got big plans with this one. May your days be filled with Joy, Alhana. Blessed Be.

can be so annoying. They can also be so cute. Not usually at the same time, not for me. I had to put Blaze, my new little kitten, in his kennel because he's tearing up my yurt! My new to me Mexican quilt I just bought is almost shredded! Argh! I feel a little guilty about his imprisonment, but my goddess, what about my sanity? He's cute, though, that's for sure. Healthy. Robust. Loud.

It's been a while since I've written . . . I'm still alive and well. Yurt living has been challenging. At... read more

Moving. Stretching. Growing. Always.
Making the decision to move to Taos has changed my life in so many ways--both large and small. For example, I no longer have a bathroom. In my old casita, I used to cherish my bathroom and spent much time in there, whether by reading on the toilet as the cool breeze floated through my window, or soaking in a lavender infused bath listening to music and surrounded by candles. It was my sanctuary.

Another example-I don't have running water in my house.... read more

Tomorrow is Y-Day. I get to move into the yurt and realize yet another dream. Life is good. Summer school is over, my summer is officially here. I am sitting in one of my favorite Pecos restaurants, enjoying a plate of huevo rancheros, thinking about all of the packing I need to do before I get the U-Haul tomorrow. This evening, I will meet a grandmother of one of my students. She is a curandera, and I think she's the one I've been praying to meet. We're gonna go see Jose Feliciano. It's gonn... read more

You know, for years I've envisioned living in a yurt in the mountains. I kept thinking I could buy some land, put up a yurt and live in it while building an earthen home. Well, I didn't buy any land, but the opportunity to live in a 30 sq. ft. yurt in the middle of a forest on a mountain minutes from my new school has arisen, and I am thinking I'm gonna take it. It's time to see if I really have what it takes to rough it, because while there is electricity, there is nothing else in the yurt. ... read more

is beginning and I am so excited. Thank you to those of you who stood with me in intention for the job at Roots and Wings. I got it! I'll be moving to Taos sometime in June, and I know I'm going where I should be. Being there filled me with an energy of sisterhood and female power. The Goddess's presence is strong there, incarnated in all of the love-filled people I've met.

I almost threw this job away. Long story short: I was scared of the changes to come. So I made excuses about why I s... read more
