about me
I'm a freelance, a nomad, a part-time air conditioned gipsy (air conditioning optional) driving the blue highways in search of 4 calendar cafes. I am most interested in that which defies ready classification, am on the look out for uncommon juxtaposition. I believe rational thought is a tool to inform the heart, and trust in the heart to decides what really matters. I think we should... all. slow. down. A three hour lunch is good for the soul. The wine is good for your heart. And a siesta is a good way to spend the afternoon.
That said, i am thrilled by the sensation of moving fast, only just in control – like roller coasters, down hill skiing, or driving twice the speed limit. Isn't that the human dance within the cosmos? A little speck unhurriedly hurtling through space-time, serenely out of control, and integral to the whole? I live in jaw dropping awe of the majestic universe expanding all around us. Most religion seems amateurish by comparison. But i love those prehistoric cave paintings. We should revere that which we hunt. Or why is it worth pursuing?

Since everyone creating a Facebook account is (more or less) required and expected to use their real name, and a verified email address, you can search for your friends by typing their name or email address into Facebookâs search field. Facebookâs Find Your Friends tool gives you many other options, such as entering your account name and password from various other services (like Gmail, Yahoo, AIM, MSN), thereby giving Facebook permission to search your address book for people who already have their own Facebook account. Maybe the most natural thing to do is look at your existing Facebook friends and see whom they are friends with.  (For example, you could look at my assorted friends.) Using any of these methods, you can select those folks you both know and like, then ask them to be your friend.
stop spam by reading books: â¦one word at a time!   reCAPTCHA provides a free captcha service to any website that needs it.  What does reCAPTCHA get in return?  Each captcha that is entered by your users helps digitize pre-digital-age books.  So when OCR fails, the word is farmed out as a captcha to participating sites.

(condensed & reblogged from aaronwhite) If youâre promoting a web site in an email, you want to make it as easy as possible for people to remember and visit that site. When you type or cut-n-paste the web address, include the whole URL, like this, including the HTTP bits: Most email programs will allow curious readers to double click on a complete URL, taking them directly to your web site (in their default web browser). Also, with multi-word domain names, use capital letters (like I did above) to designate the first letter of each word; this just makes it easier to read (since you canât use spaces). Not all email applications and services work the same. Some allow slick formatting options which others cannot read. This is a lowest common denominator approach, which should be readable and effective in most email software.

Since I first started using and writing about Twitter last year, itâs popularity has soared.  It seems like every day news tools, services, applications, bots, sites and more appear to extend it functionality for every conceivable circumstance, need, user and distraction.  As of this writing, iâve bookmarked well over a hundred of them.  Given their sheer numbers, and diverse specialities, Iâve only had time to try a fraction of them. But if youâve ever wished that Twitter could do something more, thereâs an ever growing chance that someone else with the same thought has actually created a tool that will help you do it.  So take a look, browse through my short descriptions, and see if any of these are for you. As I setup my new MacBook Pro
the little Gorillapod will steady your camera in a variety of situations, without taking up much..

FauvePainter: is there something on one of your websites recommending printers?

MYKLbiz: no, i haven't shopped for printers in a while. what you want depends very very much on what you're using it for. FauvePainter: mostly just to print papers and whatnot. i don't want one that has really expensive cartridges. that drives me nuts. MYKLbiz: pretty much ALL ink jet printers -- which is to say all the cheapest printers -- have expensive cartridges -- which is to say expensive PER PAGE printing costs. which is fine, if you only print a few pages every once in a while. FauvePainter: and other printers? MYKLbiz: if you print a lot, the per page cost is much lower for laser printers. FauvePainter: how much do those run? MYKLbiz: low hundreds on up for laser printers. FauvePainter: doable. MYKLbiz: street price of laser cartridges varies from mid $20s to low $100s for black, and around $100+ for color. FauvePainter: but they last a long time? MYKLbiz: one cartridge prints thousands of pages. so cost-benefit really comes down to how many pages you're gonna print every month. a laser printer and it's cartridges generally cost more up front, but you'll eventually get more pages printed for your buck. FauvePainter: i print a lot of stuff at work :) MYKLbiz: you can't beat the economy of printing on someone else's dime. as for buying your own, you might wanna read the printer reviews at MacWorld.com and MacReviewZone.com (Laser Printers, Ink Jet & Other Printers). FauvePainter: we have a printer; haven't used it in awhile. the cartridges run about 70. MYKLbiz: definitely find out the real world price of cartridges, and how many pages they each print, before deciding on a printer. that, and a pocket calculator, will give an idea of the true cost of printing with it, over time. originally published at today@Mykl.biz
