about me
Hello! *waves*

Username: MysteriousAliWays (after the U2 song)
Also known as: Ali or Alison

Based in Northumberland, but Scottish in origin.

I've been bellydancing for about 13 years altogether and am about to finish my 4th year of teaching bellydance.
My background is mostly Raqs Sharqi with a bit of Egyptian Cabaret thrown in, but I'm happy to dabble in anything (Indian classical, african, bollywood ...) I absolutely love Tribal but location and lack of time mean I can't squeeze in more than the occasional workshop - but when those workshops are by the like of Rachel Brice or Sharon Kihara, the buzz inspires me to keep on going in between times! :)

I spend way too much money on afghan kutchi jewellery on eBay (Tribal to the Max, you are far too tempting *covets and drools*)

I have an enormous crush on The Edge, U2's genius of a sexy guitarist. My lovely husband is quite resigned to this fact. Both my daughters have been indoctrinated to yell for me whenever U2 appears on the telly and can sing along to most of the U2 albums. My work as a mother is done *g*

Look forward to meeting you!
Ali

Part of an article on U2.com, about U2's songwriting/recording stint they are currently doing in Fez, Morocco:
"One track they’ve been working up sounds like a soul song with distinctly Arabic rhythms. Another is an epic story-telling piece which seems to run for seven or eight minutes. This time, as the music stops, the birdsong is in competition with a local muezzin, calling the people of Fez to prayer.

‘It’s kinda nice to bathe in making music like this,’ explains Larry. ‘Normally we ... read more
