Najma's got it all-- brains, talent, looks, sense of humor, hot fiancé-- AND she is giving the bellydance community a much needed shake-up with her savvy, mad skills, and style. She is my bellydance mentor, always there to listen to my excited/neurotic/obsessive ramblings, guide me through The Drama, and keep me somewhat sane. She is also one of my dearest friends. You won't meet a kinder, more kick-ass woman. On her birthday, I wanted her to know what a blessing she is to me. :)

I got married on Saturday to the kindest, sweetest, most caring, handsomest, cutest man in the whole world. (Sorry, ladies!) It was a beautiful affair with 80 yards of black tulle, my tallest boots, a bustle, bridesmaids in black, groomsmen in kilts, and a kick ass party afterwards with no fewer than ten bellydancers--count 'em, TEN bellydancers!!! (Including yours truly.)

Today is my birthday. My 36th birthday. My just four-years-from-40 birthday. And I feel okay about it.

I’m sure that has a lot to do with the fact that I still feel 20. Well, okay, maybe 25. Regardless, I still feel young and I’m told often that I look young. So yay for me. My great-grandmother always said you’re only as old as you feel and she always felt 25 her whole life. (Which is why she kept giving herself a fright while passing the mirror in her hallway; she was always sta... read more
It's true. I can't believe it's true, but it is. The proposal happened Saturday, on one knee, I accepted. I wonder how long it takes before it becomes real? No, actually, it's already a little more real today. Maybe telling people solidifies things. :)

I'm already stressed out, but I'm happy, I'm excited, I'm in love. It's all going to be good!
The Durga Tour's stop here was totally awesome and seriously for real the best bellydancing time I've ever had!

Tempest and Ariellah were both nice and kind, even though they were probably exhausted. Both gave mesmerizing performances and the audience was appreciative and reverent. We would all love to have either of them come back and stay awhile, do a workshop, perform again and again and again. ha ha (Oh--and I bought a t-shirt and Obsidia's name is on the back. Waaaay cool!)
Tempest and Ariellah will be here October 17 and I can't wait! (And I get to help make sure their visit is as pleasant as possible. That's fun, too!)
