about me
An over-educated gypsy currently at loose ends...I try to keep myself amused. My life will get on track someday, I promise.
Oh and ps, if you're male, found my profile by looking up 'bellydance', and think asking me to be your friend is going to be the beginning of a beautiful relationship...sorry, domni, I'm took.

Re: transitioning out of henna
(in Makeup and Hair for Dancers)
OK, thanks. I think I'm going to try to gradually introduce cassia into the mix as I touch up periodically; I don't like what chemical coloring does to my hair and to get the henna color completely out, I'd either have to bleach or crop it really ...

transitioning out of henna
(in Makeup and Hair for Dancers)
I've been henna-ing my hair for about a year, touching up my roots or redyeing my whole head every six weeks or so. While I love pretty much everything henna does for my hair, I'm wondering what the best way is to get back to my natural color (dar...

Bellydance Bride-of-Frankenstien. At least, that's what I want to do....I'm going to a coworker's party, though, so I'll probably just end up going as a regular bride of Frankenstien. I'm looking forward to doing my hair.

Re: large O rings
(in Tribal Costuming)
When I was doing jewelry way-back-when, we'd patina copper and brass pieces by putting them under a large bowl or dish with a smaller dish of undiluted ammonia. Left overnight, the fumes would turn the copper that nice turqoise-blue and the brass ...

Productivity vs Procrastination

Wednesday was, as my folks put it, my "Friday"--the last day of work before two days off. And all the days leading up to Wednesday have, indeed, been work: between the massive amounts of painting I've done since coming back to ECC, and actually getting back to work, and the marathon trips home, I've been busy doing something or other since about the beginning of last week. So I had yesterday, today, and a big chunk of tomorrow off, with a show tomorrow night and all day Sunday, and then back ...

As I am now staying at ECC until something better comes along, I'm thinking this might be the start of a new 'something better'. I am so nervous I don't feel it and more than a little scared--scared that they won't want me, that I'll make a fool of myself, that there won't be anything available in my fields--or almost moreso, that there will be, that they will want me, and that this will be me starting all over ... read more

I haven't gotten fired from ECC, nor do I plan to. But it's becoming increasingly clear that this isn't going to be the dream job I want it to be and at the current rate, it's going to become something I probably hate. So...off I go again.
I am a little sick of Belegarth politics. If I could, I would make myself into an ignorant, realm-centric fighter who cares nothing for what other realms are doing: guild program, service knighthood, BoW changes, etc. I wish I could go back to just worrying about my own garb and swinging stick on weekends, but a) I don't have the availability to go out to practices on Saturdays and b) I've set myself on this path of wanting to be better for the sport if I do find myself able to get back into ...

Listening to "All About the Media" this afternoon while I drove around in a fruitless search for a post office or even a mailbox; the topic of conversation was the enormous amount of information that was posted, sent and received on social networking sites (most notably, Twitter and Flikr) during the terrorist-hostage crisis in Mumbai last week. India has only had privately-owned mainstream media companies since 1987; before that, beginning in 1957, all television stations, newspapers, an... read more
