What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
~ Langston Hughes

Isn't this a creepy album cover? The violin player looks like Christopher Walkin pondering where he should stash the bodies....
Anyway, I'm looking for some yummy cookie recipies. I've checked the Food Network website, but i'd like to hear what those of you who celebrate something this season (Christmas, Solstice, Hanukah, Kwaanza, etcetera) bake to satisfy your tastebuds. I've been making the same sweets for the past few years and would like to try something new.
Any suggestions wou...

Had a great time in Nelson. A REALLY REALLY great time. Thank you to all who made it so, ummm, 'great', namely Nicole, Sunday, Martha, Nelson, Rob, all of the crazy Shambalites and my wacky musician buddies.

As many of you know, last Friday marked the beginning of the Calgary Stampede which I have discovered is a redneck version of Mardi Gras. For 10 days, staunchy business people trade their suits and briefcases for Stetsons and Wranglers, every bar...

The two things that first struck me about Naomi were her sense of humour and her energy. Dry wit? Got it. Sarcasm? Got it. Sweet little jokes that make your heart melt? She's got those too. Her heart and soul are so full of kindness and loveliness that it's almost hard to believe the twisted jokes and deadpan remarks she can make. Which of course makes them even better.
Naomi is fabulously silly. She has no shame in goofing off and taking things too far (and then some), and taking us all right along with her. There are few people like that in this world. And her creativity and talent know no bounds - she can sing, act, dance, play piano... she could probably play the digeridoo while doing a cakewalk, if you gave her a shot at it! Or else she'd have you peeing your pants laughing at her - all intentionally, of course. ;)
I had planned on writing Naomi a testimonial of one word that described her completely. That would have made me look so succinct and eloquent and smart.
Luckily, Naomi is enough of all those things for both of us, and I'll be glad to follow her around and bask in her neverending brilliance.

ahhhh Naomi.....
What a brilliant individual. Naomi is a sweetheart..
She knows how im feeling without me even saying a word. She has taught me so much about myself...
I think Naomi knows me better than I know myself sometimes.. When I'm down and out I can always rely
on her compassion and understanding to help me through it all... Naomi also has one of the silliest and probably one of the sickest senses of humor around(so I guess we compliment each other quite well in that regard). Naomi ceases to amaze me with her talents and strengths... I feel so gifted to know her and I feel like I'm a better person because of it.
We have had some crazy wonderful times...moments I will always cherish...
Thank you for being one of my best friends
