about me
I have been studying bellydance in its various incarnations for five years, and performing professionally for three. I currently dance with Obsidia as L'imprevu (French for "the unexpected").
My passions within dance range from Egyptian to Turkish to African to Modern to Jazz to "Tribal Fusion" (whatever that may mean). As L'imprevu, the current goal in bellydance is to create a theatrical, authentic, and unique experience for bellydance audiences. At present, we are deeply influenced by Eastern European and Middle Eastern music in addition to the vaudeville and Hollywood inspired sensibility of the first half of the twentieth century. My major dance influences include Mira Betz, Mardi Love, Elizabeth Strong, Aziza, Jill Parker, Olivia Kissel, Mia Michaels, Bob Fosse, and Martha Graham. Nari is one of the fiercest, truest friends I've ever been blessed to have.
She knows how to make me laugh, make me see things in a different light and how to truly believe in myself. She's the perfect person for me to dance with, my hetero-lifemate... What I would do without her, I don't want to know..ever again... We began bellydance together and I'm so thrilled we're moving forward, side by side..... She is the sister I've never had and one of the brightest stars in my universe. I love you Nari. June 29, 2007
Wonderful dancer! She is so busy with the love for belly dance and her determination isn't just inspiring but exhausting. Watching her dance makes me want to drill, drill, drill. OH, to have her talent would be such a blessing. You are..... you just are...... It's becoming such a great experienc to have this magnificant lady by my side.

It's unbelievable that I met this amazing woman a mere 11 weeks ago-- it feels like we've always been friends. Nari has a heart of gold overflowing with generosity and kindness. I admire her sassiness and treasure her wisdom and advice. She's my bellydance big sister and I love her!

So, I finally met Nari...and lemme tell you something about this chica...she friggin' RAWKS! Im not talkin' about the kind of rock that you jive to..Im talkin' about the kind where you get up off your butt, jump up and down, as you would to Cypress HIll, and head bang and mosh pit-it, jump off the stage kinda RAWKS! Yup! She's a keeper!!!

I will be teaching intermediate classes on Mondays from 6-7 p.m. Student interested in joining the L'imprevu student troupe may attend rehearsals immediately following class from 7-8 p.m. .

Classes are $17.00/ drop in or $60.00/ month (4 classes).
