Michael and I are finally in our new place, but it was no small feat. We are still navigating through a rocky terrain of boxes and artwork, clothing a and kitchen utensils, and what I will be referring to hence as the Michael branch of the Houston Public Library.
During our fabulously humid and sweaty move, I bottomed out when pulling out of a parking spot in front of our old apartment. Anyone familiar with the flawless and almost artful construction of the roadways and paved surfaces in Houston will undoubtedly be shocked that someone could damage his or her vehicle by simply reversing it at two miles an hour.
So the entire exhaust apparatus and muffler were basically contorted causing a rattling that made my car sound like a lawnmower on steroids. Nice.
Here we are, car full of "stuff", rumbling down Kirby Lane like The Beverly Hillbillies as we try to find a place to get the car repaired.
Luckily, they were able to bend and maneuver the snaky parts of my car back into their proper positions. Not-so-luckily, I apparently needed new tires. $420.00, thank you very much. And we were on our way.
Now the challenge of redefining home through picture placements and furniture rearranging begins. And though I prefer to open my boxes and be surprised by the contents, I acquiesced when Michael created an Excel sheet for our belongings. It will all come together at some point. Home sweet home. Or something like that.

Today (Dec 7th), Bristol-Myers Squibb, the pharmaceutical monolith that charges nearly $1,000 for a 30 day supply of one of its HIV/AIDS medications, is donating $1 to the National AIDS Fund for each person who simply visits their website and "virtually lights a candle." The tally is near 871,000 now.

Please, please take a minute to "light a candle":

From a friend on this community:

"Some of you may know that an individual has been haunting Tribe and the Bay Area belly dance scene for the last few months. He has approached and propositioned dozens of dancers both locally, and nationwide (online), upsetting many and even scaring a few with his stalker-like behavior.

He finds women's phone numbers, home addresses, emails, etc., and starts contacting them, often repeatedly.

You can read the full details here:

http://mideastpercussion.tribe.net/thread/dac187d1-5662-4b26-8a41-8a56cfa37fe9

(he's the one who started this thread, get a good look and avoid him if you see him locally)."

Please beware, dance sisters. A stalker can be a SERIOUS threat. Take any and all precautions to protect yourself from this or any potential stalker. Here is an article I Googled that may offer some sound advice:
