I am so sorry to be such a stickler, but due to past kinks in the works ruining our shows in the past from having music too late, I am forced to produce a show disk. It MUST be done before the auditions in May.... it’s all business and NOTHING personal...I just need my show to run smoothly this year with NO problems...

I also need to measure some of you gals and guys for troupe costuming. deposits are due by April 15th with the balance due upon completion. please note you are only being charged for the materials used, which I feel is MUCH more generous than other dance studios I have danced with.

Bellydance technique

learn the basic foundations for the ancient art of bellydance.

The origins of bellydance stem back to the beginnings of civilization and has been used throughout the centuries as a social past time, a folk dance for men & women and to strengthen & prepare woman's body for childbirth. sessions will run in 6 week modules and more levels & times will be added as we progress.

classes are now ongoing, come and learn about dance technique,coordination and preparing the body to utilize muscles you didn't even know you had! It is a great social and exercise regimen and will lead to later classes in technique and prop work (veils, finger cymbals, sword,cane, wings of Isis and dances with fire)

this is an easy to follow program with no prior dance experience required

I've also emptied out the boxes that I had put up at retail locations for cell phone collections, we have TWO rubbermaid totes of used cellphones from all of our efforts! hooray! Lolita will be ecstatic! (we also have several new toys and a few toiletries)
BUT....

we STILL are in need for haven house...

laundry cleaning items (dollar tree has laundry soap/non chlorine bleach, even dryer sheets!)

toiletries, especially toothbrushes,toothpaste, sanitary supplies, etc
(the sample sizes you get in the mail and at retailers are a great idea too!)

underwear of ALL sizes, women's & children's (little boy/girl/ & teens too)

diapers AND pull ups, baby wipes, baby toiletries

did you get something for Xmas that you were going to "regift?" what better recipient than someone who has left everything in their house behind & has to start all over?

Roberta says she finally has enough hats/gloves/scarves & mittens...

USED CELL PHONES!!!!!! these get refurbished by a special program and the victim of domestic violence has the ability to diall 911 if the offender approaches!

ABOUT PETITE JAMILLA:
"Simply Put: Petite Jamilla is unclassifiable and immensely talented" MC 04 With an award winning style that escapes definition and talent that is inescapable, this Southern Beauty has been belly dancing her entire life, and charming her way across the world. Petite Jamilla is carrying on her mothers legacy, Jamilla Rasa, by bridging the generation gap between traditional folkloric style and modern belly dance fusion. Shes been performing and studying her style of belly dance intensively for over 10 years becoming professional and touring the Southeast US from the age of 15, a seasoned instructor by 17, and by the time she was 19, she had 2 instructional dvds on the market. PETITE JAMILLAS WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS:

DOUBLE VEIL AND SPINNING- Teaching her 7 techniques to double veil in addition to spinning pointers, Petite Jamilla uses Visualization and meditation methods to relax the body and focus the mind on spinning through which she found her own spiritual connection.

MODERN DRUM SOLO CHOREOGRAPHY A fun all levels fusion drum solo choreography that incorporates modern movements. In the choreography, you will learn how to isolate circles on the lateral plane of the body.

TROUPE CHOREOGRAPHY: This workshop offers a drum solo choreography for a troupe to learn and perform. Entire troupes are encouraged, but a minimum of 3 representatives from each troupe should be present to learn the multi-layers of formations and choreography. Solo performers are not to be excluded; as they will learn 1 of the 3 formation and layer options in order to perform it on their own. This is a fun modern dance and jazz infused piece with earthy elements and multiple rhythm changes. (another troupe choreography available is "Caba-Ribal" style: a mixture of Cabaret and Folkloric-Tribal movements based on improvisational techniques for solo sections designed within the group piece.)

Body Conditioning for Better Bellydancing -2 day workshop
workout regime that helps me stay strong while on tour and also tones the muscles necessary to strengthen for better bellydancing. learning to perform your dance - not just
dancing it! We will take one choreography and learn to perform it two different ways utilizing the personal interpretations of individual emotions. "when we repress our emotions, we are working against them; when we express them harmfully, we are working for them" so lets learn to express our emotions beautifully through the art of bellydance, making subtle changes to any choreography to individualize every dance.
Necessary to bring to class: yoga mat or towel, water, wrist or ankle weights (between 2 - 5 pounds), socks, ballet slippers or jazz shoes to protect feet, and a single rectangular veil.
