break the misconception that bellydancing is a step above stripping and that it was made to entice men. God, I'm so freaking tired of having to explain that to people. Ignorance like that needs to stop!

wow, that is a really good opportunity! If it were me i would just let them know what tribal really is... i mean not alot of dancers claim they can truly explain what tribal bellydance is, but most of the General Public haven't had the opportunity to experience a tribal performance! I would start there and explain how you're style is unique compared to the others and how it's constantly changing and evolving while still holding it's traditional value and all that good stuff. I really wish i could see it!
