Most people define Nevik by his passion for drumming.
Personally, I believe the music is simply a positive reflection of the rhythm he keeps with the universe.
Moreover, he happily shares this rhythm in his music and by teaching.
When I grow up, I want to be just like him and greet the world with the same smile and a beat.
You rock!

Umm...ok, I'm not a drummer, but I am a student of music and I have things to say about Nevik. First wow and for good measure wow again. I am blown away every time he picks up a drum. If it's that really big drum (that is the technical term, right?) I literally get blown away as he starts hammering on it as if he is making musical weapons for the gods. I have not seen a drummer at pennsic who can touch you, Man (although, when your back is turned Rune, Sam, and Kazuki all do that poke and run thing).
I sense that the force is strong in this one and that he would have several wicked and witty things to say if one could only tie him to a chair for a moment for a bit of conversation. I forgot my rope at pennsic, but I know where you live and if you hear a rustling in the bushes...ignore it, it's probably just the wind.
But in all seriousness (yeah, I know I'm going to try real hard), Rune has blossomed as a drummer since he met you. I can't tell you how much your friendship and mentorship mean to him and to me. It makes me very happy when he is happy and he is always grinning like a fool around you. Thank you for sharing your craft and yourself with him and I look forward to getting to know you better.

Nevik is the f---ing man! I've only gotten to play with him a few times, but he's got some of the fiercest chops I've seen in person. It's not all raw technical ability though - he's also got some tasty subtle stuff he can lay down too (I think he's got a secret spice, but in spite of what he says it's probably not the curry... :)
Finally, I've met many people that have his level of skill in something, but he doesn't have one ounce of "diva" in him at all. If you haven't met him, you ought to. He's warm, friendly, and has a great sense of humor - just an all-around great guy!

Nevik is my brother.
Has as-fast-as-his-drumming-hands-wicked sense of humor, along side this intense humanity, that is warm, focused, and goofy. He is a devoted friend, who makes you feel always supported. I am really happy to have such a lovely friend in Nevik. I highly recommend getting to know him. AAAAND, you gotta drum with him. I always play faster (hahaha), cleaner, and with greater joy whenever I jam with him!

Nevik is a constant source of inspiration. Just watching him renforces my love for music. Playing with him makes me a better musician. He is technical ability and raw power combined in one slightly insane package. I gladly call him a friend.

I don't recall when this happened exactly (probably a couple of years ago), but I was at an airport and needed to use the restroom. I saw the sign and entrance for "Men" and made my way in. After taking care of business, I exited the stall, washed my hands, and walked around the corner to leave. I was met by three women. I turned to look at the sign again and realized I had accidentally been in the Women's restroom! I looked back at the ladies at the corner with what must have been a hor...

Yesterday was my wife's 31st birthday. We had reservations at the Chart House for dinner at 6:30pm. As best as I can recall, she was probably watching me groan in severe pain for the last 3 days, hearing me complain that morphine, hydrocodone, muscle relaxers, and oxycodone weren't doing any good, and fighting back her tears as she felt helpless.
Christina isn't the person on the stage receiving applause. Christina isn't the one signing autographs. Christina isn't the one flying around...

The Teribus show in Cincinnati went very well. It was pretty loud. Good thing we didn't use the sound system! Our next stop is in California. I'm looking forward to seeing the ocean. We are still working on our first Teribus CD and should have it ready for Pennsic.
On another music related note (nyuk, nyuk), I've been cranking out some new Ironleaf material. My recording process was temporarily halted to deal with technical issues of various kinds. After a matter of days, lots of bu...

Uh...I don't even know what the hell that means so don't feel bad!
I do know that we took advantage of the snow and went sledding (aka Tree-dodging!) today. That was good fun. So was watching the little doggy catch snowballs. It was so cute that Emo kids were involuntarily puking on their Hot Topic clothes within a 10 mile radius. Good times!
I think tomorrow we will tackle a really big hill and see what kind of fun we can have then. :D

Bagels are tasty, but that isn't what this entry is about, Komrad.
Attending TribalCon was good fun. We saw lots of friends, met some great new people, took lots of photos and fed Zi'ah's kitties. Some of the photos turned out pretty well. I would like to buy another prime lens (maybe a 50mm 1.4) but that will have to wait.
There are some fun things scheduled. Teribus is playing in Cincinnati, La Notte is playing in Colorado, I'm teaching here and there and recently updated my websi...

about me
When it comes to music, I don't like to hold anything back. I enjoy eating curry. I have a fascination with zombies and radio horror stories. I don't like working with dishonest, greedy, or narcissistic "musicians." If it's all about the money, where does that leave "art?"
