well, we're just taking over LA for now. rest of the world - you're on our list. be afraid. in case you haven't heard yet, the premier run of Beneath was a huge success. we sold out all four nights, almost every LA news network sent reporters and camera crews to the shows, and we all had a fucking blast. in fact, we had such a blast that we decided to do it again! due to overwhelming demand, we're extending the run of the show for two more days - Friday August 1st and Saturday August 2nd. tickets are on sale and going FAST. that's right, y'all. after three or four(ish) years of fundraising, mime bashing and burningman-ing, Cirque Berzerk is finally doing a full run of circus shows in downtown LA complete with klowns, fire, aerial acrobatics, little people, really tall people, an original score - and all under our big top. the entire crew has been working SO freakin' hard on making this a mind blowing and ass rocking show. and i say that having by FAR the easiest job out of any carnie involved. people are going to be talking about this show for a long time, so do yourself a favor and buy your tickets now! they're going mighty fast... details on the show and ticket info at www.cirqueberzerk.com

i'm not playing at this event, just giving a shout out because this is going to be an amazing night of music. i wanna shout a big ol' THANK YOU to everyone that came out for the POCKET shindig on saturday. it turned out exactly how we wanted - great people, great music, and TONS of fun. i loved the fact that i recognized almost everyone there. it was like a really great house party with a bunch of fabulous weirdos. thank you all so much for coming out and shakin' what yo' mommas gave ya. we're tickled purple that you chose to spend your saturday night with us. :) big thanks to the LALA crew for keeping it swanky in the b-room and to the Wandering Marionettes for bringing the STRANGE. we're aiming to do another event in early June. slightly bigger, better, and with more FLAIR! stay tuned... allow myself to reintroduce myself... a lot of you know that i play music. i dj, yes, but i also play several musical instruments as well as produce original music. for some reason (anyone hear me clucking?) i haven't shared much of my music with the world. all that is going to change very soon. so, now i would like to introduce you all to my original music production alter ego (we all need an alter ego, right?)... world, meet Pumpkin. i must say that i absolutely LOVE the fact that more and more people are embracing their inner klown lately. i find a new klown or otherwise freaky cirkus type at least once a day while i'm farting around on the interweb. and i'm finding that this phenomenon isn't just happening within our fabulous community of weirdos. i recently saw an ad for an upcoming club night in LA with klowns on the flyer. the hippies down at venice boardwalk are practicing circus arts in between rounds of hacky sack and yoga. klown porn is all the rage. circus is the new fire. hobo is the new tribal. a red nose is the new prada bag. it won't stop. resistance is futile. be one with the nose.

WOW. I am so excited about this, I could freakin' pop. I'm practically hovering with vibrations of insane joy and nervous excitement. It's been a long time coming, but this weekend some of my best friends and I will be throwing our first event. Our friends and family throw AMAZING events all year long, from LA to NY to Mexico and beyond. And we've all been part of huge events and undertakings in the past, turning forests, deserts, circus tents and warehouses into magical playgrounds. But this Saturday night will mark the maiden voyage; the virgin flight with just us kids at the helm. We've learned a lot, and we've learned from the best. This night is going to be something truly special. We are transforming a somewhat familiar LA space into another world. Top notch decor and atmosphere, roaming characters, performance art, circus antics, pristine sound... this night is going to be nothing short of pure magic. (reader warning: this blog is pure whine.) a while back i was asked by a wise friend of mine what i would tell my younger self if i went back in time, knowing what i know now. at the time i said something stupid, i don't remember what it was. but HE said, "i'd tell myself to take better care of my teeth". what a great answer. thanks to bad genes, bad brushing habits and fear of the dentist in my childhood years, and the lack of a dental plan for the last sevenish years, i am twenty five years old with the teeth of a sixty year old. i have way too many cavities, fillings that are falling out, a tooth that has completely crumbled, and a nice chip in my front tooth that looks like i always have a piece of pepper stuck in my tooth. not to mention the pain that comes with bad teeth. i used to think that aside from childbirth, being kicked in the balls has to be the most excruciating pain ever. but now i know that a bad toothache can hurt SO much worse. and i've been kicked in the balls. hard. twice. we just got a dental plan where i work, and i get my little insurance card sometime this week. then i get to go to the dentist. i never thought i would be so happy to go to a damn dentist. kids, take care of your teeth.
