<div>hey everyone,

i'm spreading the word by reposting a post that my friend, nick, had alerted the community to. thanks, nick, for spreading awareness about this cruel act of "art".

post is below:

In 2007, the 'artist' Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a dog from the street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery, and starved him to death.

For several days, the 'artist' and the visitors of the exhibition have watched emotionless the shameful 'masterpiece' based on the dog's agony, until eventually he died.

== The "artist" says : "Hello everyone. My name is Guillermo Habacuc Vargas. I am 50 years old and an artist. Recently, I have been critisized for my work titled "Eres lo que lees", which features a dog named Nativity. The purpose of the work was not to cause any type of infliction on the poor, innocent creature, but rather to illustrate a point. In my home city of San Jose, Costa Rica, tens of thousands of stray dogs starve and die of illness each year in the streets and no one pays them a second thought.

Now, if you publicly display one of these starving creatures, such as the case with Nativity, it creates a backlash that brings out a big of hypocrisy in all of us. Nativity was a very sick creature and would have died in the streets anyway." ==

See the picture above? Does this look like art to you?
But this is not all... the prestigious Visual Arts Biennial of the Central American decided that the 'installation' was actually art, so that Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action for the biennial of 2008.

It takes a second to help put a stop to animal abuse.Sign the petetion to stop this asshole by going to the web address below +

<div>Bravely I look further than I see
Knowing things I know I cannot be, not now
I'm so aware of where I am, but I don't know where that is
And there's something right in front of me and I

Touch the fingers of my hand
And I wonder if it's me
Holding on and on to Theories of prosperity
Someone who can promise me
I believe in me

Tomorrow I was nothing, yesterday I'll be
Time has fooled me into thinking it's a part of me
Nothing in this room but empty space
No me, no world, no mind, no face

Touch the fingers of my hand and tell me if it's me
Holding on and on to Love, what else is real
A religion that appeals to me, oh
I believe in me

Can you turn me off for just a second, please
Turn me into something faceless, weightless, mindless, homeless vacuum state of peace

On and on and on and on and on and on and on and on
I believe in me
On and on and on and on and on and on and on and on
I believe in me

Wait for me, I'm nothing on my own
I'm willing to go on, but not alone, not now
I'm so aware of everything, but nothing seems for real and
As long as you're in front of me then I'll

I watch the fingers of our hands
And I'm grateful that it's me
Holding on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on
I believe in me

I'm willing to go on but not alone, not now
I'm so aware of everything

DETAILS: Sunset Promotions &amp; the Fringe Arts Collective present the third annual "Funksgiving" churning up an appetite for turkey with some of the funkiest djs in the world.

This year we welcome Berlin producer Kentastic, whose releases under the moniker "Torpedo Boyz" have helped blur the lines between breakbeat, rock and pop. Their incredibly funky uptempo compositions combine elements of rock, house, disco, and comedy into dance music that is quite simply unique. Torpedo Boyz have drawn international acclaim for their 2007 release “Headache Music” with its sardonic raps about tweakers at bars, and the need for better drumming. This snarky humorous edge makes them seem almost like the European version of James Murphy and LCD Soundsystem or a less evil Evil 9. Torpedo Boyz will headline a killer night of nufunk, breaks, funk and disco at your favorite danceclub and mine, Mighty.

What better to add to some German Nufunk, than a bit of Swiss Nufunk, in the form of San Francisco underground hero Romanowski. The stuntman, nudist, disk-jockey, collage artist, sneaker painter, and CEO of Trouser Trout records has been dropping funky beats in San Francisco for the better part of 15 years. And though his releases run the gamut from nufunk, organic breaks, to fresh dancehall to Bollywood beats, Romanowski’s heart and soul is in the funk. There are few in the Bay Area with a fatter collection of juicy funk 45’s and the skill to link them together.

Another darling of the SF funkerground DJ Tal Klein is celebrating the release of his 3 nufunk E.Ps by touring the US, Canada and England. One of the most underrated Djs in the city, Tal is an expert at layering the modern beats with oldschool themes. Ditto that with Motion Potion, a wildcard if there ever was one, and Malarkey, who’s weekly Juke Joint parties have kept the funk alive in the North Bay. Fred Funk is a tech-breaks wizard who has long plied his trade as a member of the Brass Tax crew. Tim Dietz is quickly gaining local notice for his astute grasp of various formats of breakbeat while Victor Vega has seen similar attention for his handle on electro and minimal house. Big$Bill is an eclecticist if there ever was one, dropping mashups, breaks, and hip hop and always rocking the party.

Adding some culture to the counterculture is the goal of the Fringe Arts Collective, and they will be represented by numerous live painters and fine artists who will ply their trade to the greasy beats thrown down by the selectionists.

<div>the transition from summer to fall always feels like dusk to me. the hardest time of day for me to see anything clearly. the shadows play on people's faces, hiding who they truly are or who you think they are. and yet it's still too light out to shine a light and clear away all the uncertainty. so, i am glad for the autumn to really take hold. fall for me means comforting dinners with good friends in warm houses. it means hibernation and introspection. it means creatively cooking or working on projects at home. making room for myself and for real quality time with loved ones. i saw a beautiful show the other night and this music just set me in the mood for fall. the perfect warmth and meloncholy for the cold dark nights ahead. special thanks to all my wonderful friends who have warmed my heart these past few weeks. i love you all so much.

<div>is it me or do people seem to be leaking anger all over the place right now? i actually feel pretty ok right now, and this isn't happening to ME, but it seems like since coming back from burning man people are being careless and cavalier with one another's feelings. everyone seems to be in a semi-bad mood and extra sensitive as well. BE KIND OUT THERE PEOPLE! what the hell is wrong with you? don't take it out on your loved ones! be nicer or stay in to decompress. everything seems extra charged and extra intense. just watch some gosh darned episodes of battlestar galactica and examine your own shit. the world has not ended, but it seems to have shifted for quite a lot of folks. remember kindness...it doesn't take more effort to practice being kind. it doesn't take more effort to practice being patient. power to the peaceful is this weekend. can you honestly participate? are you finding your power in peacefulness or in crankiness? soften yourself.....go watch a sunset today. there are worse situtation right now than the ones you might find yourself nitpicking over. go home and cry it out....talk to a friend and get it all out.....but for goodness sakes, practice kindness and graciousness with yourselves and your community! the fragility you feel will pass. but don't be afraid of it right now....just sit with it. EVERYTHING IS OK!!!! love to you all and good luck! </div>

<div>"The time has come, my playa friends,
to talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."

i want to know where ya'll will be camping! any thoughts as to locations? let's start sending out those addresses so we can all pop into each other's BRC homes just as easily as we do here in the bay area! i will be located somewhere on "A" betwixt 9 &amp; 9:30. look for the green street sign placed on "A" that says "BOULEVILLE" and you will find me!

and the fringe will be pumping the music all week long on the REDNOSE STAGE this year! key fringe evenings to come out and play(a) will be Thursday night and saturday night after the burn. BLVD will be playing both those nights along with your favorite fringe djs. also, the fringe artists will be creating some LARGE SCALE ART while our djs make you dance your faces off! friday night is gonna be rocking as well with bassnectar and freq nasty. our own mycho cocoa will be sandwiched between the two playa legends!

i can't wait to dance with all my beautiful friends at our home away from home! </div>

    </a>
<div>i am so very loved. i have wonderful friends, family, partner, roommate, and 2 of the sweetest cats in the world. i've been a little down lately and i think my smaller cat, isis, sensed that. so what does a sweet, doting cat do to cheer her mommy up? bring her a present, of course!

i awoke to a proudly meowing cat who brought me a dead mouse in bed. happy christmas to me!

i leap out of bed laughing and crying all at the same time. "good girl!" i keep exclaiming as tears stream down my face."thank you so much!" i run downstairs to my living room to try and wake up, collect myself, not vomit....i keep hearing the inquisitive meows of isis upstairs. " bring mommy's present down here, sweetie!" i call up the stairs. i venture up the stairs in time to watch her flip the dead token of love in the air and play on my freshly washed sheets. i return downstairs.

finally, she brings the mouse downstairs, blinking proudly with her huge green eyes. she sets it down in the dining room. i put a trashcan over the top of it. it's still sitting in the dining room. i'm trying to work my way up to it. i never realized what a girl i was until today.

so....what kind of a day am i going to have? what does the day hold for me when it starts out with a stiff, disgusting, rodent is dropped next to me by my lovely, adoring kitten?

just thought i'd share.

new years! new beginnings and old loves!

<div>what a new years for this lil kitten! so much swirly twirly fun in the chaos of sea of dreams! with so many of my dear friends scattered to the winds (east bay lovelies, tahoe crazies), i found myself in a crew of old and new! an old friend invited me along with some of his compadres to sea of dreams. surrounded by new friends, i found myself thrilled and aching at the same time. missing my safety net of people, but still committed to being in the moment and connecting with who i was with. the sea of dreams event was a blur of feathers, makeup, balloons, hippies, beauties, music, and madness. i felt myself resisting at first, fussing with my costume, grumbling in the lines for water, bathroom, trying to look for people i knew would be there, etc.

then, i remembered that i get what i create. so i let myself go and allowed it all to happen. my mantra for the night became "whatever happens is fine by me". breathing into that i found a friendly face (serge!) with another friendly face (rabekah). the faces kept pouring in (tim) along with the crew that i went with. the next thing i know i'm dancing on stage with serge and 40 other beatiful people while bassnectar served up some new and some old. such a playful scene filled with mischief, smiles, and beauty. it was like a dream. an incredibly sweaty dream! it was the most connected i have been to breaks music. so, thank you rabek and thank you lorin for giving me an amazing experience to carry into my new year!

but i promised old loves....did i not? so here it is....a very revealing piece. i am about to say something that is considered a "dirty word" to most, but i don't care! i'm gonna shout it to the heavens! the word is: PSY-TRANCE! did you hear me? no? i'll say it again: PSY-TRANCE! i'll spell it all out: PSYCHEDELIC TRANCE.

after the sea of dreams ended in it's usual abrupt way my cohorts and i shivered our way over to the somarts gallery for an event that i know quite well: tantra sf. a wonderful event that happens a few times a year. they've held halloween parties and new years parties. psy-trance was my first love of electronic dance music. for the past 6 years i've seen some of the most amazing international acts the world has to offer and danced to some consistently amazing local djs that this bay area supports and loves! walking into that event i felt my heart heave a sigh of relief. my body pounded with the rhythmn and my head told me "i am home."

i saw the same familiar friends that have held this community together in san francisco thru the plentiful times and the scarce times. this music has such a tight community that supports each other's purposes so well! so, thank you tantra sf, thank you john wood, liam shy and the late night coalition, for being fighters for the right to dance. thank you megan and the M.O.E. ladies. i applaud you strong women for growing your name, your purpose, and your gifts. thank you nik for being the everpresent smile i can always count on in those parties and for supporting BLVD. thank you paul scott and G.O.A. play for branching out in all directions. thank you psybertribe! but it all started with psy-trance.

and listening to the voices around me, the people from all walks of life dancing that same stompy dance, i realized that psy-trance is really, for me, the truly international voice of dance. in london, germany, france, from hallucinogen, s.u.n. project to neuromotor...thank you portugal and the BOOM festival....ibiza, isreal, india...infected mushroom, growling mad scientists, violet vision....in japan, south america, mexico....mexican trance mafia, quantum, hujaboy...and to our wonderful community here: dj psynthetic (loved your parties! miss you spinning!) chromatone, mubali, penta, quasar, greg-on-earth, michael liu, ocelot, gobi, dj dragnfly, spook, random (and the synchronize crew!)....and to the godfather of it all: goa gil! thank you all for reminding me where i came from and reminding me how easy it is to return!

so, all you haters can keep on hating, but i know where i love to be when the sun comes up....stomping around with the other marathon runners, the soldiers, the smilers, people of all ages that come together. we're not "feather and leather" it's not sexy 2nd chakra stuff. it's adorkable, it's a stable beat as solid as your heart! psy-trance, psy-trance, psytrance!</div>

<div>woke up with this song in my head. thought i'd broadcast it here. it's not reflecting MY feelings, but maybe things feel like this for one or some of you( gotta love that aimee mann):

This is how it goes
You'll get angry at yourself
And think you can think of something else
And I'll hear the clanging of the bells
Cause I can't stop you baby

Cause I don't have the bribery in place
No bright shiny surface to my face
So I won't go near the marketplace
With what I'm selling lately
Cause this is how it goes

Cause it's all about drugs, it's all about shame
And whatever they want
Don't tell them your name

This is how it goes
One more failure to connect
With so many how could I object
And you, what on earth did you expect
Well I can't tell you baby
When this is how it goes

Cause it's all about drugs, it's all about shame
And whatever they want, don't tell them your name

So I try to hold on
While you try to let go
You won't tell me it's gone
But baby I'll know
Baby I'll know
Baby I'll know
Baby I'll know

nik tagged me (sneaky little elf)

1. i am a HUGE brazil fan and know in my heart of hearts that they are gonna TAKE it again this year, folks!

2. i have actually cried at two separate nick cave concerts. that man just HAS IT!

3. when i was little i used to stare into the mirror for long stretches of time and wonder if i was staring at through a window at myself in another world.

4. i got my first cavities when i was 31.

5. i love fencing, but haven't done it in a long time.

6. i've had complete strangers come up to me and tell me that i am the "alpha female" in the room. (it's happened at least twice)

7. my birthparents told my parents to read "the prophet" by kahlil gibran. my parents gave me a copy of it when i was a teenager. i've read it and wondered about the kind of people my birthparents are (especially reading that book at ages 18).

8. i still have a pair of converse that i got in the 8th grade. they fit perfectly and are in fairly mint condition.

hmmmmm....i choose (hope these people read blogs!): amy, dylan, curtis, matt (wolfcub), alissa, and seofon (jeffrix)

<div>
Some folk are truly evil
They'd like to see you down and out
And in the choicest way they tell you how they feel
Not often face to face

Yes some folk are truly evil
The bastards want to see you cry
And if it's all the same to you I'd rather be
Left alone to live my life the way I choose

Some people worship silence
And cry away a troubled day
And like the light that shines so lonely in the dark
Their day will come

Yes some folk are truly evil
The bastards want to see you cry
And if it's all the same to you I'd rather be
Left alone to live my life the way I choose

Some folk would like nothing better
Than seeing me and you go lose it all
It's all they have to keep them moving through the years
They can't live but they can hate

Yes some folk are truly evil
The bastards want to see you cry
And if it's all the same to you I'd rather be
Left alone to live my life the way I choose</div>

<div>i've had it. i've asked my friend in arizona to sketch me some tigers. well, he hasn't written back, the poker-playing, chain-smoking flake. and here i am with no sketches. so, if anyone has any sketches of tigers that they would like to submit, i would be thrilled to get this show on the road. i can see it in my head, i just can't draw it myself. in my vision, it's kinda like a watercolor, but i'm open to any kinds of styles. so...tigers...pretty please.</div>

<div>i'm reading one of those books again. the ones where i look up after a half hour and i forget who i am. i think it must be the writing style that does it. the author's voice is so close to my own that i lose myself in the narrative and lose my center. i stop reading and have all these wierd emotions for awhile before i realize, "hey, that's not my social awkwardness" or "hey, that wasn't me whose roommate tried to commit suicide" and then i finally realize that i'm perfectly fine. but, shit, it can sure take awhile sometimes.</div>

<div>i dreamt that i was in this bar with a lot of my friends and also a lot of my burning man camp people. i had this pad of paper. on each piece i wrote a word. sometimes i wrote more, maybe talking about why i chose that word, but sometimes it was just the one word. i started to hand out the pieces of paper. i decided that i was going to give everyone a word this year and they could do what they wanted with it. i gave a word to bill and alissa told me that he was just about to write that exact word on the counter. then i woke up. </div>
