</a>
<div>according to http://galadarling.com , Saturday was International Dress Up Day (aka i.d.u.d.).

The theme for I.d.u.d. was dress like your favourite song!
i was dressed as Clair de lune by Debussy -- which translates as moonlight, in french.

My outfit consisted of:

♥giant white petticoat
♥blue satin skirt with little mirrors &amp; gold stitched/trim detail
♥vintage blue slip converted to tube top
♥cream-coloured shawl with crocheted flower detail
♥3 strands of pearls
♥crystal flower earrings
♥black &amp; white saddle-shoe flats
♥tiny gold bindi

The white petticoat + pearls + shawl was supposed to be the moonlight &amp; the blue skirt with golden mirrors was the night sky &amp; the stars.

I highly recommend checking out Gala's site -- it is absolutely amazing &amp; she writes some really fun articles.

greed has poisoned mens souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goosestepped us into misery &amp; bloodshed. we have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in, machinery that gives abundance has left us with want. our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard &amp; unkind. we think too much &amp; feel too little. more than machinery, we need humanity. more than cleverness, we need kindness &amp; gentleness.</div>

On Schpanky's request, i thought i'd share with the rest of you (vegan recipes!)

<div>coconut curry red lentil soup

1 sm onion, chopped
1 tbsp olive oil
1 garlic clove, minced
1 celery stalk, chopped
1 sm yam, cubed
1 sm potato, cubed
2 cups veg. stock (i buy mine from the grocery -- but i'll let you know if i come up with any good recipes for veg stock)
1/2 cup dried red lentils
1 tbsp curry paste (i use red -- green is a lot hotter. its a bit hard to find curry paste, i've found it at whole foods, though)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 14oz can coconut milk
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, minced

in a medium soup pot on medium heat, saute the onions in oil until transucent. add the garlic and celery and saute for an additional 5 minutes. add the yams, potatoes, stock, lentils, curry paste, salt and pepper. bring to a boil, then reduce heat. simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked. stir in the coconut milk and with a hand blender or food processor, blend half or all of the soup until smooth (be careful when blending hot liquids). return to pot, stir in the cilantro and serve. makes 4 servings.

note: i copied the recipe exactly how it is, but you don't need to blend it ( i blended half) and i substitued 3 yams/1 bell pepper for the last recipe. it seems to be a very versatile recipe as far as substituting goes. You could also substitute mung beans instead of lentils if you wanted a thicker soup, but it may need to cook longer.

peanut butter coconut squares

2 cups corn flake type cereal
1 cup crispy rice type cereal
2 tbsp shredded coconut (unsweetened) (i used about 4 - i love coconut though)
1 cup peanut butter
1/2 maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract

topping:
1 cup vegan chocolate chips (optional)
3 tbsp almond or soy milk (optional)

lightly oil an 8x8 inch pan and set aside. in a large bowl, stir together the two cereals and coconut. set aside. in a small pot on medium heat, melt the peanut butter, syrup and vanilla until soft and smooth. pour peanut sauce into cereal mixture and stir until well blended. spoon into pan and press down evenly. in a small double boiler, melt the chocolate chips and "milk" on medium heat, stirring until smooth and creamy. pour evenly over peanut butter squares and refrigerate at least one hour before serving. makes 6 squares.</div>
