Riding down Hwy 1 from San Francisco through Half Moon Bay on a weekday has a pleasant rhythm to it. No crazed weekend warriors and bands of bikers to jockey with for a space on the road. Just the UPS trucks, surfers and locals that get from one town to the next for workaday activities. It was a chilly day - as I rode down, it was about 45 in the sun. Long johns and a few layers on top with a leather jacket kept me comfortable if not a bit cool.

I've been getting bored with Sonoma County roads, so I'm either not travelling enough new ones, or I've gotten complacent. I will say that I'm not as enamored of them as I was when I first moved here 7.5 years ago. It used to seem like such a rush to go around these curvy roads, taking a circuitous route throughout the county, but now it's what has to be done to get anywhere.
