like many people in the psytrance community, i initially only knew dave (or "da ve", pronounced DAH-vay ;) from his lengthy online missives - nominally about trance music and culture but frequently extended discourses delving into weighty abstract theoretical propositions (and of course the Boston Red Sox). from these posts i gathered we had both similar taste in tunes and a philosophical/analytical approach to life. i didn't know how much else we had in common until a mutual friend put us in closer contact... but you know those people you meet for the first time and you instantly feel like you've been friends for life? that's what trading *emails* with dave was like. many years and parties later i'm still overjoyed every time our paths cross. there is nobody else with whom i'm equally comfortable discussing the latest iboga release, Kierkegaard's influence on existentialist philosophy, or the possibility of a Patriots-Eagles super bowl rematch... and perhaps most of all, nobody i'd rather have djing at sunrise in the serene pine barrens with a flawlessly constructed progressive set. my only laments are that we don't hang out more often (philly to boston is a bitch of a commute) and that i can't always keep up with his protracted but endearing stream-of-consciousness emails. in sum, dave rocks and don't let anyone tell you otherwise...

Check it out! Not only has he developed into the emerging ace of the ballyard nine, but now (Jon) Lester Matsuzaka is challenging the Germans for world swimming supremacy!

Dad is my best friend who can talk. If I could talk, I would tell him he is the greatest. He gives me the last bite of whatever he's eating & he will drop whatever he's doing to play with me, even if it means he misses an inning of the Red Sox. He likes to stroke me & call me both "lonnnnnnnnnnng" & "round" and I don't mind if he does this all day, as long as he's by my side. I like to snuzz with dad, even when he smells like metal. Dad taught me how to swim, even when I was afraid, but gave me the courage to keep trying. Now I'm the best swimmer out of all the Boston bulldogs! He always tells me I'm a good boy, even when I know sometimes I've been bad. Sometimes I drool & dad will wipe off my mouth on his favorite sweatshirt....now that's love. Dad, I'm glad you're my dad.

This man is wonderful! Not only does he have a very intriguing choice of tattoos, big beautiful blue eyes and a sexy smile, but he is a truly caring person, that is a super talented artist and dj, Dave always gets us groovin' with his fine prog selections. He is quite the talented craftsman and writer as well.
I remember before I met him, I knew who he was from his very descriptive reviews of new prog albums or of a party he recently went to. Always a mention of something to do with the Red Sox.... Now that I know him, I completely understand :) This man makes me laugh in all those good ways! Spend some time with him, and will want more! Love you Dave! October 20, 2005
We were at a Redtail Party somewhere in the not so far past, and Dave was excitedly talking about one of his favorite topics...the Red Sox plight against the Yankees...progressive psy tracks (how about that new Ticon track?)...bassett hounds...the advantages of using steel to aluminum in making string art fixtures ...oh wait...it wasn't any of those things...he was convincing the Sonic Beating crew that we all needed to go to Mexico to go to a NYE party on the beach with Son Kite...the thing is, he easily had us all convinced that it was a good idea...money and timing aside. At that moment it was Ammon who said it best as he watched Dave's energetic expression..."Dave is so charismatic." I believe this statement whole-heartedly both because Dave is usually operating under the influence of some kind of stimulant, and because he is the most passionate, devoted, and clever person I know. Children, animals, and swizlee-bugs alike are drawn to his warmth and this is a tenet of his authenticity. Skills are something he does not lack...as he is a fine metal worker, stone-mason, psy-trance dj, writer, and smoothie-maker. What else can I say, when it comes to humans, Dave is pretty much the best I know of.
