Sea Of Vapours

It has been a long process but is becoming more and more real as time passes by. The track list for my upcoming dj mix / compilation SEA OF VAPOURS due out this summer on Zenon is 99% done:

1 Ave Ventura - Rebirth (Tetrameth Remix)
2 Shadow Fx - Sound Section
3 Autonomech - The Wild
4 One Tastey Morsel - Chew The Fat
5 Sensient - Ballistic (One Tastey Morsel Remix)
6 Tetrameth - Jungle Weapon (Sensient Remix)
7 Autonomech - The Bit Generation
8 Sensient - Life Involved
9 Moses - Trukket I Lyden (Vacuum Stalkers Remix)

Each and every single one of these track is f%cking sick. The release will be a double cd, one mixed and the other unmixed. The unmixed cd will not include one of the tracks that appear as a bonus track on the mixed cd. I am currently just waiting for the mastered tracks to do the mix, the artwork is nearly done.

I have completed a rough draft and it was not easy trying to get the normal flow and transitions I achieve in my other mixes. Working with far fewer tracks, then trying to "make" them work together is a much different process than I am used to, but a very enjoyable challenge so far.

=)

Technology Can Bite My Ass

I love it. I hate it. I LOVE it. I HATE it.

If it's not my laptop, it's the software. If it's not the software, it's the controller. ARGH!!! I am going insane. And I know I am not alone. Jay and Norris off the site are also battling the techno gremlins as we try to get the new version of Traktor (3.3) and our new Vestax VCI 100 midi controllers to work on our PC platforms.

I won't go into details about what the issues are, I'll spare you that rant. I will however share the fact that...

Stability results were moderately high which suggests you are relaxed, calm, secure, and optimistic.

Orderliness results were moderately high which suggests you are, at times, overly organized, reliable, neat, and hard working at the expense of flexibility, efficiency, spontaneity, and fun. -----> Well this part is for sure wrong, I am still flexible, efficient, spontaneous and fun, sheesh!!

Extroversion results were high which suggests you are overly talkative, outgoing, sociable and interacting at the expense too often of developing your own individual interests and internally based identity. -----> Again, wrong. I have too many interests, and more than one internally based identity.... all those damned voices, please make them stop!! Hahaha =)

Trait Snapshot:
clean, self revealing, open, organized, outgoing, social, enjoys leadership and managing others, dominant, makes friends easily, does not like to be alone, assertive, hard working, finisher, optimistic, positive, likes to stand out, likes large parties, respects authority, practical, high self esteem, perfectionist, dislikes chaos, busy, controlling, high self control, traditional, tough, likes to fit in, conforming, brutally honest, takes precautions ----->I have to admit it's a little odd seeing yourself summed up like this. Now I have to go back and retake the test to make myself look a little better. That's what everyone else does right?

Birthday Thoughts

Well today I turn 34, no longer a spring chicken, but not yet an old fart so really I am sitting right in the sweet spot. I was going to head out snowboarding today, but decided to have a quiet weekend in with my sweetheart and do some house reno's instead. I have so many things to be thankful for, and today I have been pondering and acknowledging as many as possible... and thinking about all the possibilities for growth and adventure still to come. I must admit that while I am really enjoying getting older, I am not too thrilled about my mortality. Although I had a really incredible conversation last weekend with a friend about the Buddhist concepts of emptiness and nothingness, and by beginning to understand how it is that they differ I came to a new level of peacefulness with regards to the great beyond. But for now I am really digging what's going on in my life so I am pretty keen to stick around!!!

Two "Promotions" In One Day

Well it's official, I am now a label DJ for Zenon Records out of Australia, home to some incredibly talented prducers: Tetrameth, Krumelur, Fine Dinner, Suncontrolspecies and Sensient. My focus when I play as DJ Nokturnal will be the Zenon sound; dark, intelligent and most definitely nothing but psytrance. And I also just recieved a promotion at work into a really great position I have been after for awhile now... it's a pretty big step up in pay so that's going to really help to fund more music projects and trips. Things are pretty great right now I'd have to say, I am feeling pretty damn lucky indeed.
