Stuff & Things

Came across a remarkable article today, Giving Something Each Day May Keep the Doctor Away.
www.prweb.com/releases/20...b1149654.htm

The piece is about the origins of the website (and challenge), 29gifts.org
www.29gifts.org/index.html

It's a noble effort and a good reminder of what's important in life, especially in this age of Consumerism. Check it out, I think it will put a smile on your face (which is my official gift on the first day of my taking up the challe... read more

Just one example of many, this quote is from an article by Rabbi David Cooper from an article in Parabola magazine:

"Many of these teachings, nonetheless, were revealed publicly in the Zohar, the Book of Splendor, published around 1300 C.E. The Zohar teaches for all to see that the initial Hebrew words of the Bible, Bereshit bara Elohim, have, in fact, two contradictory translations. One way to translate the opening line, as described above, is to treat the word Elohim, one of many Heb... read more

You have to love the British! There's a big ta-do over an offensive depiction of the Buddha in a Norwich gallery, which you can read about here:
www.ananova.com/news/story...535862.html

Whether you think the piece is offensive or not, I find it more telling that the complaints were about the Buddha with a fruity phallus, and not the, "Christ crucified on the back of a flying bomber and Hindu god Ganesh sitting beneath a Nazi helmet." Not sure what that... read more

My Testimonials

Hail Eris!
November 12, 2007
I love you.

When this man talks, do yourself a favor and listen. If need be, I suggest taping the conversation. Smart, funny, warm and grounded unlike almost anyone I've know. (Which is probably a good thing as he's got a lightning bolt of a partner :) I generally have difficulty repsecting most of the males I meet...I can't imagine being able to not respect this man.

I only get to see Brett once every few years, and he sometimes is a completely different person from the one I last saw, but it's always cool to hang out with him. He is geeky and wise all at the same time, and it would be difficult to find a more genuinely good person.

Brett is my reason for getting up in the morning
he's my dreamy-eyed one
and my love
he's got the biggest soul I've ever been held by
he's my honey
and he deserves all the best things in life
he's got merriment in his heart
and deep roots in the earth
his strength is like the ocean
and his hands are something to curl up inside

Brett makes everyone feel good
he could make a kitten feel at home in the bathtub
and a girl dare to do things she never thought possible
he's the cat's pajamas
and the bees knees
and I am so lucky
we met
