I've described this project in my next photo.

In this illustration: The text at top describes materials needed (in brief). Two panels of the mushroom are shown with colors indicating this stage of the paint design (to be modified) and implying the shaggy fabric on top. The third shows the actual cut outline with slits for seats. An arial view of a four-panel mushroom with seat arrangements follows (seats stack on alternate levels, held in by something like dowel segments or even padlocks), along with a photo of Shaggy Stem mushrooms.

I'll modify this further to more closely mimic the mushroom's tapered stem, and probably bend the whole structure appropriately.

This sketch is for early conceptualization.

The idea is to create 8' mushrooms (each mimicing a specific type of mushroom) out of plywood, pipe (PVC?), wood and fasteners, cover it with a sewn fabric top (using fabric scraps or parachute cloth), line the underside (gills) with elWire or other lighting (probably varying for each mushroom), and to provide seats and shade. I'd likely also do cutouts of the wood to allow for wind.

The sketch shows a single panel at upper left (to be fanned out to create the full form), idea for a pipe connector at upper right, and six-panel mushroom concept at bottom.

Check the previous photo to see a more recent computer illustration.
