Rebecca Halls fell in love with hooping in 2003. She began performing solo in 2005 then joined forces with Julia Harnad to form Intorchao Hula Hoop. The duo performed at numerous events including Cirque Zerna, the Montreal International Jazz Festival and Osheaga Music & Arts Festival. Their success inspired Rebecca to study Contemporary Dance Choreography, contributing to her ability to create a seamless flow between hoop tricks. Rebecca’s current work is a duet with her hoop, a conversation between it and the body, which exploits the vertical axis to approach hoopdance vocabulary from innovative angles. In addition to her passion for hoop choreography and performance, she enjoys sharing her art and acquired hoop knowledge with others in weekly Hoop Classes; she is also a certified yoga instructor. Her continuing research in disciplines of dance, yoga, gyrontonics and hooping contributes to a truly unique teaching methodology. T hrough these complementary movement forms, Rebecca aspires to help each individual find the beauty, strength and dance residing within their inner self.
