room for rent near 16th/valencia
( housing » roommates ) hi! i'm looking for a human to rent out the second bedroom in a two-bedroom flat.
the apartment is in a stellar location--near the corner of camp and albion, which is tucked back behind the 16th/valencia and 16th/guerrero intersections. the street is quiet, but close to all manner of good and awesome things. i absolutely *lurve* the neighborhood. parking's crap, but everything else is fantastic.
the flat is on the ground floor. it's cozy, but not too small. the kitchen is good-sized; the bathroom does its job; there's a utility room with space for some storage; and there's some room in the basement for storage as well (also: coin-op laundry machines). the apartment has a living room, although it's attached to my room via railroad doors and houses a fair number of my objects.
the room that's available is 12x10. it doesn't have a closet, but it does have some built-in shelving and drawers. it's got three decent-sized windows, although it doesn't look out onto anything other than the walkway between our building and the ones next door. it's really quite a pretty room--it's got character. (there may or may not be a lofted bed frame available to be purchased when you move in--current housemate is still deciding what he's doing with the structure.)
i'm a 29-year-old native norcal female-type human. i've been in san francisco for a few years now. i work a 9-to-5 as an environmental consultant, unenthusiastically, but spend the rest of my time doing lots of other things that make me happy. i'm part of one of the underground dance communities in the city (specifically: the breaks scene), and my main extracurricular activity involves producing and/or attending art and music events. translation: i throw parties, i like to play and dance to electronica whenevah possible, and i do a fair amount of not-sleeping on the weekends :) other various descriptors--i'm single, mostly straight, an ex-hippie type, read lots of science fiction and jane austen, go to the playa with regularity...yadda yadda yadda.
i'm looking for a housemate who's friendly and nice and pleasant to be around, of course of course. but i'm also hoping to find someone who doesn't mind that i'm not going to be super-social when i'm around. i'm a rather busy human, and like to take space for quiet and relaxation when i'm in my home.
besides being nice and whatnot, i'm also wishing for a housemate who...
- doesn't smoke the cigarettes (other smokables are whatevs)
- is both clean and, um, clean. i've recently transitioned into the let's-clean-the-floors-and-sinks-on-a-regular-basis-please phase of my
existence. this is not to say that i'm anal or support things like chore wheels; this is just to say that i'm anti-grossness.
- doesn't work from home.
- doesn't object to me coming home at all hours of the night on the weekends, sometimes with a group of people who will then inhabit the living room for a while.
pleeze respond with some words about yerself. (what're your needs? what do you love? what do you hate? do you have a snake [say no]? will you abhor my music?) i'm not going to have a ton of time for in-person interviews, so thorough emailings with lots of detail will be muchly appreciated :) and in return, feel free to ask me more about me.
good luck with the home-finding!
