Well this was highly disappointing.

The Ashkenaz website stated that FHG would include long-time FHG backbone Jon Paul on bass and Dan Leali on drums. Keys were listed as (unknown to me) Rob Clearfield. Tabla would be the young Salar Nader, who played with George Brooks' Summit gig at the Downtown Berkeley BART station on 8/26. Also Kala Ramnath on classical North Indian violin.

I’ve seen a lot of really good stuff lately.

Topaz & the Left-Coast Allstars was an excellent boogaloo gig last Friday. As sax man and bandleader, Topaz was a stronger and better than I’ve ever seen him before. I thought I’d be relying solely on Cheme but I was pleasantly surprised.
