Join us this Saturday morning
to spread the mystery of
Burning Man to Nevada!
Check out the websites!
...and the following updates:
<> <>
Hello folks this is Rogeman. Once more I get to help
organize us Black Rock Citizens for the Nevada Day
Parade! www.nevadaday.com/
Before I get to the Parade info, I want to tell about
the 2 day Burner Bonus party w/camping that goes along
with the package!
The Friday Pre-Party begins @ 5pm!
The party address is
Troy and Jax house (from camp Gallivant)
4300 James Dr.
Carson City, NV
They welcomed my idea to be our host, for our NV day
weekend needs! This is our Bonus we haven't had in
previous years. Thanks! The property is large.
Vehicle camping in front (bus and RV OK), tent camping
in back, party in the middle!
Friday night party for the folks that want to arrive a
day early to be prepared for
Sat(logistics/prestaging/set up camp/party,out of
towns). Even if your not camping it is okay to stop
by! Most likely a low key party (ya right). Gate opens
at 5pm, party gets going after dark.
If you need early arrival before 5PM call me to make
arrangements.
720-4946
Saturday after the Parade, It is a good time to get
every body's cars to the party site then car pool back
downtown, if desired. Driving on Sat is high risk and
parking is extremely limited. Some folks will stay
downtown for an hour or two before going to the burner
bonus party. When you decide to get off the downtown
streets, the party should be going pretty good.
Camping is encouraged.
This is a bring your own booze and potluck friendly
event.
Someone please bring some fire wood if you have it.
The Parade info:
The Theme this year is "Mysteries of Nevada Area 51"
Reno, Carson, Tahoe, Minden and Gardnerville area
Black Rock Citizens, are welcome to participate!
Rules:
Everyone in the parade must be in a "costume" relating
to the Theme!! (such as aliens, men in black, secret
airbase uniforms, fire suits, astronauts, black bikes,
flying saucers and things mysterious and
indescribable). Family friendly of course. Expect to
walk, skip, dance, stilt or bike your way down the
street. Hula hoops, Poi and Staff streamers are OK
Four mutant vehicles for the parade have been chosen
so far. Additional MV's are by approval. Flying saucer
type MV are preferred.
The way it has gone in the past:
Call time is between 8:00 and 9:00am on Saturday Oct,
27Th. Meeting Location has not been assigned yet.
Expect another email with meeting spot.
Parade runs 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
We don't enter the Parade until well after 10:am so
you have some leeway if your running late.
If your there early, no worries, the Preparade meet
and greet gathering is a Hoot!
The Plan:
We have two Parade entries this year.
Burning Man and Controlled burn!
Our parade Shin Danger Ranger is bringing two MV's
down form Gerlach. Names of the vehicles to follow.
1. controlledburnreno.com/, will bring Dave's
truck W/fire effects! Additional large fire effects
downtown are going to be pitched to NV day committee
in Oct. Following Dave Controlled Burn then,
2. Not confirmed, From Tahoe "The NeuroWeapon"
www.myspace.com/bloodgutsandbassThis MV with its most excellent sound system will
provide a crowd pleasing atmosphere for us to dance
to! We might need to "pass the hat" to offset their MV
expenses.
You can see this MV at the Decomposition party Oct
20Th! Please encourage them to keep their MV active
for another week and participate in the NV Day Parade!
Johnno and Osh will be our DJ's for the NV day
parade! MV provided by dj T dub and his group.
In case "The NeuroWeapon" falls thew, we will use
Johnno's sound system and put it on Dave's truck.
If your a "fire performer" you must have a Nevada
State Fire Marshal Card and Clowns of America Ins. or
Equal in order to perform with CB.
The NV Day Parade is a good time! Ask around, It is
worth coming too. I look forward to it.
See you soon
Rogeman
<> AND <>
The Nevada Day Parade starts at 10 am Saturday, Oct 27. We are supposed to be in line at 9:30, but there will be at least an hour wait before we actually move into the parade. Burning Man is entry #124 & #125. We will assemble in the Division 7 area, which is East Park Street.
www.nevadaday.com/parade/Di...eupMap.htm
Entry #124 will be 3 art cars (Apokiliptika, Braf & Nautileo)
Entry #125 will be Controlled Burn (fire troupe & 2 support vehicles)
There will be limited seating on some of the art cars. We are holding the number of walking participants to 25 (excluding the fire troupe count). Participants should bring water and sun block (it may be hot and sunny) and also bring a light jacket and hat (it may be cold). All participants are required to be in costume.
Each art car/vehicle must have a fire extinguisher. Nothing may be tossed into the crowd.
Parade rules: www.nevadaday.com/documents...lRules.pdf
Most out-of-town Burners will be staying at the
Nugget Motel
651 N. Stewart St.
Carson City NV

<> AND <>
We have a parking lot party to put on!
After the Single Jack competition and award ceremony
We get to use the West Nugget parking lot
for our own little show.
I hope you guys want to do a show?
The show begins with Controlled Burn and Burners
Johnno will have his tunes
on Dave's truck breaking out the jams.
We will have an instant dance party
because nobody has done this before.
Start off with a little guerrilla burning
to get the crowd warmed up
then show off the liquid flame effect unit.
Do more dancing, spinning and flame effects
then finish around 6ish
leaving them wanting more.
Some Controlled Burn members
have a show in Reno later that night
or are going to the house party camp out
on James St.
I would like our community of burners
to help us out with crowd control and the party
because you're used to being around us
when we perform.
(Just be alert if we need help)
This last minute event
is going to draw in hundreds of spectators.
The crowd will be large.
I want to give the crowd a feeling
of what is like to party at BM.
Sound good?
"It feels like fun already"

BRAF Fundraiser Gala Saturday, November 3rd
(events » arts)
Saturday, November 3, 2007 - 7:00 PM
This is a special announcement from Larry Harvey about an upcoming fundraiser for the Black Rock Arts Foundation. Together with our Regionals Network and Burners Without Borders, the Black Rock Arts Foundation is a key part of the effort to propagate Burning Man culture and ethos around the world, year round. And since BRAF is a non-profit foundation, your financial assistance is critical to its success.
If you can't make it to this wonderful event in San Francisco, please consider making a donation to BRAF by visiting www.donatetoblackrockarts.org/doa...tml.
Thank you ... read on!
Dear Friends of Black Rock Arts,
The expansive spirit people rediscover in themselves at Burning Man - that is what the Black Rock Arts Foundation is striving to bring to the world. BRAF combines public art and communal effort to create cultural engagement and societal change. With your help, we've made great progress. We've been credited with changing the face of public art in San Francisco -- now, we're enabling other folks in various communities around the globe to do the same.
Please, if you're close by, join us and come out to celebrate. We're throwing an inaugural gala November 3rd, this coming Saturday. This is our most ambitious effort yet, and we will particularly value your participation and support. The indefatigable $teven Ra$pa has reached into our community and summoned forth a vivid array of entertainers and artworks; food and drink will abound. Please join with me; become the motive force that drives BRAF forward.
We'd love to see you.

As many of you know,
Burners without Borders is responding to the
August 15th earthquake
that devastated over 70% of Pisco, Peru.
Our project manager, Sam Bloch, is a veteran construction and disaster relief responder.
Sam, a Tahoe resident, graciously volunteered
8 months of his time in the rebuilding of communities in Thailand after the tsunami and is now focusing on Peru. Sam arrived in Pisco, Peru on the 14th of November. Following his arrival, he wasted no time setting the foundation for Burners without Borders to build a strong program around. Within the first week, a headquarters has been acquired providing ample room for volunteers to live while donating their manpower. Currently, project work is focused on the rebuilding of community networks, specifically the school and residences. With the upcoming summer heat, lack of water and proper sanitation is becoming a major issue. Working with the Peruvian Ministry of Housing and the FURSUR (Peru's equivalence of FEMA), designs are being drafted to build permanent walls to encompass the plumbing needs for temporary houses. This design will supersede the current non-plumbing design of the temporary houses.
The completion of this crucial work is contingent on the continued fiscal support for this program. Current fundraising has provided the initial startup money needed. Burners without Borders is proud to have gained support not only from Burning Man and the Burning Man community, but from the Tahoe/Truckee Community such as the Truckee Rotary. Future fundraising efforts are focused on providing the tools and materials needed to rebuild this devastated area. Due to the cost of tools, heavy equipment, and work vehicles purchased in Peru, it is more cost effective to ship donated or purchased items from the United States. With the manpower already committed to this program, Burners without Borders anticipates extremely positive results for the southern coastal region of Peru, its citizens, and our volunteers.
Please contact www.burnerswithoutborders.org
to donate, or for more info.
Or, call Jimmy Levi at 530-386-0503
or Sam Bullock at 775-303-7290.
Hope to see all of you on the 9th.

Burners Without Borders Fernley Flood Relief This Weekend (Jan 11-13)
(events » community)
Friday, January 11, 2008 - 5:00 PM
Burners Without Borders is organizing a work weekend this weekend,
January 11-13, to help families affected by the flood in Fernley.
We have raised over $4000 from the global Burning Man community, and can
now put that to work providing housing ( in a hotel, which is giving us
a steep discount for volunteers) and meals for people who can come help
do the hard work of cleaning up mud, ripping out carpets, cleaning and
sorting household items--basically, being spare hands to people who need
help.

Yuri's Night Reno Compression 2009 April 11, 2009 9pm-dawn The Underground Nightclub
(events » nightlife)
Saturday, April 11, 2009 - 9:00 PM
As we Reno-Compress for our time on the playa this year, Cosmo-Naughties of many ages and camps will descend upon the humble burg of Reno, Nevada. There, the launch codes will be entered for an evening of psy-trance, space dance and electronica chill music, interactive art, light shows, mini-theme camps, and friendly people. But when the celebration marks something as extraordinary as the dawn of human spaceflight, expect a HUGE party...IN SPACE!!!
That party is Yuri’s Night, celebrated in dozens of cities around the world, on ALL seven continents. Yes, even Antarctica occasionally throws a Yuri’s Night party, and residents of the International Space Station have even been known to join in on the fun. But who is this Yuri, and why are thousands of people worldwide celebrating him?
Yuri’s Night is the global celebration of human space travel, held annually on April 12, (Event takes place April 11th until dawn) Yuri’s Night commemorates both the historic first flight of Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961, as well as the launch of the first Space Shuttle (STS-1) exactly 20 years later. This year we’re celebrating the 48th anniversary of Yuri’s flight and the 27th anniversary of STS-1, along with that Reno-compression feeling you've had at previous Burner parties like the ones at last October's Biggest Little Decompression event. Here's the space skinny for this year:
When: Saturday, April 11, 9:00 PM
Age: 21+
Contribution: $10 in advance, $15 at the door in playa wear, $20 general.
Map: tinyurl.com/7r8j83Tickets available at The Melting Pot, 1049 S .Virginia St, Reno; Prism Magic Clothing, 2161 Pyramid Way, Sparks; Art Dogs & Grace, 218 Vassar St., Reno.
All proceeds go to build playa art for Burning Man 2009.

We are proud to welcome back good friends and live electro hip hop rising stars BLVD to South Lake Tahoe this time for an outdoor rager at Mt Tallac Brewing Co. on Saturday, July 11th.
BLVD's genre bending, life affirming music inspires frenzy on the dance floor that rings in the ears and minds of its audience long after the party is over. Few bands can provoke the kind of electric atmosphere that BLVD has at its shows. This unconventional mixture of hip-hop vocals, rock guitars, street beats, and sub woofing bass is enough to galvanize and convert any crowd into a devoted fan base.
2008 was a dizzying blur of firsts and foremost for the San Francisco based band BLVD. While whipping up crowds across the US with their fresh urban sounds this four-piece has positioned itself as a new champion of the burgeoning live electronic movement. The fallout of BLVD's blitz on premier west coast festivals in '08 (High Sierra Music Festival, Earthdance, Joshua Tree Music Festival, Lightning in a Bottle, Shambhala, etc) lead to several licensing deals with conglomerates such as Victoria’s Secret, AOL, CBS, MTV and more. The band dropped its full length release (Music for People) last summer and toured heavily as the album garnered critical acclaim and remained in the top 40 on CMJ charts for 6 weeks. The release also got BLVD named to the "Hot 100 Unsigned Artists" of 2008 by Music Connection Magazine. DEEP FRYED MOJO
South Shore's Deep Fryed Mojo brings an eclectic mix of music and a fun-loving, anything goes musical attitude to the stage for your listening pleasure. This group is comprised of five longtime South Lake Tahoe locals who all met at an open mic jam night run by front-man Doug Schwartz. Schwartz heads this five-piece lineup that has the ability to play anything from country & bluegrass, to rock, to laid back funky jams at any given show.

Jelly Bread is funky, but not too tart. They’ve got soul, but it’s not going to break your heart. Jelly Bread’s sound is meant for a night full of sexual healing on the dance floor with a little granola for breakfast. Sitting in the old school barbershop Top Notch, the taste of Jelly Bread saturates the taste buds.

Come out the weekend of July 24th to enjoy the beautiful Black Rock Forest, mountain biking, and swimming in nearby Sly Park Lake (Jenkinson Reservoir). Ranger Training will be held at BRF on Saturday, so check your decoder rings if ya got 'em.)
Stay for the camp out and shindig Saturday night in the upper clearing, with Freetrade bringing live music starting around 6pm, and a fire pit that burns as long as anyone is awake to throw in logs. Extraterrestrials, evolutionary muses, iridescent dancers, traveling artwork, magic and illumination, costumery and contraptions encouraged, all are welcome. Nothing will be as it seems, nor will it be otherwise...
The BRF has plenty of cold drinkable spring water and space for overnight camping, an outhouse fully equipped with tp, and an inexhaustible supply of logs for the fire pit.
Bring your bike and all that you need to survive and enjoy red dirt and the beautiful forest.
The BRF is located 50 miles from Tahoe off Sly Park Road from Hwy50, 22 miles east of Placerville, in the foothills of the El Dorado National Forest.
From Tahoe:
Hwy 50 (West)

Please bring cash if you hope to take advantage of premium seating, we have no way to run credit cards on the plaza. Thank you!
Also, we will be producing EVENT T-SHIRTS for COMPRESSION. Here’s a sneak peak at the design:
