Here they are together, Marco Polo and the unfortunately named Lady Rhonwen. We'll be figuring out a new name before long here. She's older than Marco, and doesn't know how to deal with his energy yet, but seems to be settling in well. She is, in fact, his aunt. She comes from a home with four other larger dogs, and apparently knows how to get along just fine.

The hoe is not a digging or chopping tool. It is a slicing tool. You hoe your garden by drawing the blade of the hoe almost parallel with the surface of the soil, and just below the surface, cutting off the weeds near the roots. It's not really hard work, although I definitely broke a sweat while doing the garden tonight; but that was more from the heat and humidity than the work.

It's been an eventful couple of weeks. I had the chance to finish my firewall installation at work, and found that due to the idiosyncrasies of the university's network, I couldn't put both the workstations and the servers behind it at the same time; so I had to drop back five yards and punt on that, after wasting five hours on a saturday. I have a new scheme worked out to just firewall the servers now, and will probably do that some evening this week.

We're going to be getting another miniature dachshund, this time a longhair red female. I'll post pictures when i get a chance. It's not really a rescue, as she comes from a good home where her owner is just not able to care for her anymore. Marco gets neutered on the 21st, and we'll pick her up shortly thereafter. I was out walking Marco Polo today, and came across a Boston Terrier running loose, no collar or id, so I got it on a collar and took it home with me. I'd never seen one in the neighborhood before, so I guessed that it was dumped and took it to the local county shelter. After I got home after an hour or so, the owner came to the door looking for it, so I directed him to the shelter, where he'll probably have to pay a substantial fine for letting his dog run around loose without a collar or ...
