Occasional thoughts
Better mousetrap.
Sun, November 16, 2008 - 2:38 PMIt was 3:30am on a dark and stormy night.
I awoke and felt the desire for a sip of grapefruit juice.
As I opened the refrigerator door, the light shined out and there
caught in the beam was a little mouse.
We stared at each other for a short moment, neither of us quite sure of what to do.
I grabbed the juice and closed the door .... and the moment passed.
I wasn't going mouse hunting at that early hour. Lucky mousie.
But now, what to do. A normal mousetrap seemed somewhat harsh.
Poison. Nah. Just couldn't go there. So I hit Home Depot.
I never knew there were so many options. Electronic. Clockwork. Spring loaded and mazes.
So I bought a live trap and my little mousie friend will get to live another day.
I will keep you posted.
And while we are on the subject of lucky mice, here's a short film by a friend of mine.
Possibly the best short film ever made.

I definitely support your humane way of choosing to deal with your mouse. When I was in college, I lived in an old Victorian house in NC and on day a mouse appeared in our kitchen. I caught it in a cooking pot and covered the pot with saran wrap, which I poked a couple small holes in. The dang thing was so cute! They have really big eyes and ears. But I decided it couldn't stay, so I took it to school and realized it on the campus. Be careful though.....where there is one mouse there are likely many others. You may have to contact a professional.

it's true. mice travel in packs. and once they get the idea you're not going to kill them, they'll start telling their relatives.
just get a cat. or at least borrow one. the cat's smell will keep them away. |
