You know it's easy to forget how good we have it. It's seems I've done just that. I've been sort of down lately, not for any one big thing, but for a lot of small things. Tonight I realized that these little things have been clouding my view of the fantastic things around me, screwing up my perspective. On a walk tonight in the crisp cold air while listening to music I had an epiphany, a moment of clarity as it were. I, for a moment, saw past all the little irritations and my own petty dissatisfaction's and was confronted by a simple fact. (careful this is going to sound conceited) My life rules... No really, it does. I have a great place to live, people that love me, food to eat, objects to enjoy, and I'm pretty darn healthy. If I really consider where I could have ended up, had I continued on a path I was on when I was younger, I am god damned lucky.

Is my life perfect? Oh hell no, but what is perfect? Life is not supposed to be perfect, it's supposed to be fun and scary and hard and joyful and sad and amazing and at times even just boring. But in my life at this time the fun and joy and amazing far outweigh the sad and scary and etc.. So I think I'm ahead of the curve and therefor I must remember to count myself as lucky.

Take care out there because as a wise man once said "Life goes by pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

Ramblings

Hoooo boy do I love summer in the east bay, that weather is hot and everyone is out to enjoy it. Man, I do love the miniskirt what a wonderful invention. The first few hot days of summer are the human version of spring, everything that was all closed up in winter just blooms, lots of color and more smiles and a bounce in our collective social step. Hot weather brings out the free spirit in pretty much everyone.

I am so looking forward to the steady heat of summer, we can kayak and dirt-bike ride and back-pack and hike and swim and and and...... well, you get it.

I think I love the summer nights even more, perfect for walks and night swimming.. That particular sparkle the stars get when the earth is putting off waves of heat into the night sky..

So tell me dear readers, do you like the summer, do you have things to look forward too?

This week is all about Dan (our Son) and his triumphant return from Marine Basic. That's right our boy is now a full fledged Marine. He is considerably different than when he left us lo' those 13 weeks ago, more confidant and much more able to converse on an adult level. I see a great (if constantly scary) future for him in service to his country and all of us that call that country home. I'm proud of him. Soon I'll write up about the graduation ceremony (that was an interesting 2 days..).

Peace

Well,
I just got tentative confirmation that my hip replacement surgery is to be on April 23rd. I have such mixed emotions about this. On the one hand I'm totally ready to be done with pain and limping and all the other fun-ness that go with having a bum hip. But in the other hand the notion of four days in a Hospital + 6 to 8 weeks of recovery + physical therapy makes me super nervous and frankly a bit scared.

4 days in a hospital... 4. Thats a lot of time to be stuck sitting anywhere, let alone in a freakin hospital. Bleh!! The 6 to 8 weeks of recovery pretty muck suck.. Ok it's only two weeks of severely limited mobility but there are another 4 to 6 weeks of careful-ness and most likely a cane (they say a walker to which I say "Oh hell no..") as my companion.

Another concern here is that I've waited to long to fix the hip.. I say this because in recent weeks the pain has started coming from my left knee, more so than the hip. This means the limp is really taking a toll on the knee joint. And that means that the knee is at risk of permanent damage.. and.. and... Sigh!

Ok ok.. One issue at a time.. first lets tackle the hip.. then worry about the knee.. Right? Right!

You know something compared to the Hip surgery the Heart procedure was a breeze... sheeeesh! Who'd a thunk it?

well,
I've taken a sort of tribe break of late.. In fact I've been mostly absent since the whole censorship issue here. But it looks like things have stabilized here and things are getting interesting again. I still very much like the "tribe" set up and I think it's been fun watching folks learn to work the new rules. and work them they have.. people are a wonder, tell them they can't do something (like maintain and share adult tribes) and bang they will immediately go to work on ways to do just that.

Oh well, what do you all think? Hows tribe holding up under the new rules.?
