It's been a long fall and winter of splitting time between San Fran an Boston. Lots of travel. Lots of stress. Lucky for me I work for a GREAT company that has been super supportive.

The kids are back out for a week in April and if February vacation was a preview, it should be a great time. In the mean time I am getting back to running and cycling. This weekend, a solo backpacking trip out to Point Reyes. A couple of days of quiet, listening to waves and thinking about the past year.
Just heard the kid that caught the ball is putting up for auction...

Why...? Because he wants to make a buck? No... The kid has to sell the ball because the IRS wants $175,000 in income tax! Even if he just keeps it! So now it is assured that the ball will only be in the hands of a rich guy... Is there nothing the wealthy can't get their hands on? Is enough never enough? God... their going to turn me into a Republican.

For years I had wanted out... Now it's hard to look forward. I never thought it would come to this. I never thought I would do this to my kids. Is it possible to be a good father? Do I let her move across the country? Do I follow them to Massachusetts? Exhausted, unable to concentrate, and in need of a warm body is no way to go through life...
