The skinny on the Phat

Location
about me
This most dangerous of jazz sensations, she
should not be trusted to do anything but caffeinate, differentiate, and lubricate your innermost chords.
With her powerful, three octave range, Phat Man Dee, sweetly sings standard jazz, murderous ragtime, post-be bop original compositions, while adding twist of dementia. Her delivery of these treasured classics is amusing, confusing, and slightly abusing of everything that most normal people hold dear. You can't please all the people all the time, but Phat Man Dee sure does fool alot of people trying. This petite, delicate and shy flower of of a woman will endear you, while you cross yourselves in fear and terror. Enjoy. She's a great bandleader, too.

She was recently nominated "One to Watch" in the pop music category of Pittsburgh Magazine's Harry Schwalb Awards has a voice and a stage presence that rings clear as a bell. Her soulful delivery and heart ripping phrasing make the story of the song come through her body like a mountain rising to meet the sea. Her strong command and love of the jazz repertoire has been viewed in appearances with such acts as Chicken John's Circus Ridiculous, Wolgemut, the Goddess Perlman, Neke Carson, the Bindlestiff Family Roadshow, The Bull Seal! Collective, Moritu Gypsy Dance Ensemble and the Interplanetary Ramen Noodle Wrestling Federation. She has appeared with Jazz Mandolin Project, Laughingsquid, SEEMEN, and has been honored to be a staff member of Burning Man since 1997.

Currently touring and available with her excellent ensemble of musicians, Phat Man Dee and the Liquitones give a stand up solid musical performance with a ton of heart, good energy, and an unexpected twist of comedic burlesque to soothe the overwrought public. She has appeared at the Improv, Joe's Pub @ the Public Theater, Piitsburgh Civic Light Opera Cabaret, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, the Andy Warhol Museum and the Great American Music Hall. Her best singing was performed at the Point Arena Lighthouse, and she ever longs for a return. Her recent appearances with the Pittsburgh Opera have been much touted in the local press, and he shows in New York, Philidelphia and Seattle have been sold out to capacity. She does love a parade, and to date, parades love her.

She was last seen singing to a small Christmas tree as it burned and floated south on the LA river.

I blog, therefore I am?

Hot warm muggy heat of summer comes to bear down in great steamy waves..... weeks pass and I don't want to sit at a computer in a city
connected to electricity and synaptic emphatic digital impulses promising the world of the great things to come if you would just keep
reading the emails , checking the my spacebook invites, and following the tweets to the promised land..... I don't want to insist that you
hear my new songs or rather, I want you to discover them organically like presents thrown at us from the ether...... I want you to hear me
around a camp fire at night as we dance naked, drums pounding, feeling the primal energy of the mother earth around us.... but sometimes it is just best to invite our friends to an air conditioned nice theater and leave your clothes on..... or not, depending on the venue, and for
