Info on Frédérique:
Frédérique is making her Colorado debut in 2011 with Shimmy 2B Free in June
The Lady Fred is an international performing belly dancer, artist, instructor, pioneer of the Tribal Fusion Style. She was born in Beirut, Lebanon, with her ethnicity rooted in Syrian, Armenian, French, and Italian.
She began studying American Tribal Style Belly Dance (ATS) in 1997 with Amy ‘Luna’ then shortly after with director Jill Parker where she stayed until December of 1999 and left to delve into creating something new.
With nothing to lose, Frédérique established herself through originality; branching out through the integration of urban underground lifestyle and tribal belly dance. Frédérique is known for her overall avant-garde style; she is responsible for introduced the use of new genres of music to belly dance and with the innovation and coalescence of sound editing and creating themed set mixes, she pushed the boundaries and raised the bar on stage presentation in the belly dance world. She also popularized the union of the vintage style and use of antiques for costuming embellishments used widely in belly dance today as a staple to the Tribal Fusion genre.

The Show - Honoring the Mentors of the Colorado BellyDance Community:
After watching the movie and a short break -- enjoy a special show honoring those that taught many of your current Colorado BellyDance Instructors. Not all of your Colorado teachers learned locally but these ladies were some of the ones who began and helped to shape our community.
We are very lucky in Colorado to have the talent we have here -- let us celebrate with some that helped to kick-start this community. We do have so much talent in Colorado that we cannot feature all but will feature some of the grandmothers/mothers of your current teachers along with some of your current teachers.

The show features a variety of dancers that you may not often get to see in the Denver area along with some of our original 'movers and shakers' in the community - again we do wish there was time to fit all but could not do so since we do have soooo much talent here.

Dance & Zill with a New Perspective Workshop - A Workshop for all styles and levels of bellydance

The workshop will work with two rhythms. The workshop will focus on creating the rhythm in your body, dance combinations and various zill patterns.

This is a workshop for all styles and levels. Phoenix will include cabaret and tribal fusion ideas in the combinations along with encouraging each perform to come up with their own ideas. For beginners, this will help in understanding what you are doing with the music in terms of zills and movement. For more advanced dancers, this will help to expand your zill patterns and come up with new ideas on accenting the music.

Phoenix approaches the zills from a different dancer to help those that struggle with zills and expand ideas for more experienced zill players. Phoenix combines the drummer & dancer perspective when teaching zills. This allows the dancer to understand the music rather than memorize the pattern. Learn new combos and utilize your own style/moves while gaining more confidence in with zills.

We packed the house with 350 last year....we are planning another blow out show with costumes, contests, games, live music and more!

Saturday from 7pm - until midnight or later (until we all go home)
All Ages Welcome

This will be a full night. We will not stop at 10pm. A fun night - with a show, live music by Yallah! and a DJ. After the hafla hours - the Dnote will transform into a mix of bellydance, goth/industrial and trance. Stick around for a great mixture of music.

Spooktacular Show with some of your local favorites, live music and dancing with Yallah! and DJ Slave1 spinning various music from bellydance to Goth/industrial. Plan to stay for a full evening!!

Some of our performers include - The Sultry Emberz, Phoenix with Sharaqa Shimmers, Tribal Tique, Raqs Sayyal, Raks Benazir, Rafi'ah, Marjorie and Mirage, Raqs Nova, Sheikha, Saber, Tribe Nawaar, and more.
