Good, Bad, I'm the Girl With the Gun
Hair Dye Woes
Mon, June 2, 2008 - 3:05 PMI have a specific type of hair that doesn't take well to most hair products. It won't take a curl with a curling iron, most gels don't hold as well as they could. And the worst part is that every time I tried to use most permanent hair dyes they almost always washed out. I would ahve to leave them in my hair almost 3 times as long as I would normally need to and even then I would have wash out for 3 days after the dye was applied.
I have been unfortunate to have hair that is indicative of my Native American heritage. It's fine... OK, picture Asian hair... Yeah, that's about the right consistency. It's thin and fine. But there's a lot of it despite all outward appearance. And it doesn't work with most styling things, including western hair dyes.
So, I decided to try something I never thought of before. Stixs and I have browsed through Nijiya, Ichibankan and 99 Ranch markets. I always look at the hair dyes there but it took me a while before I convinced myself to finally pick up a bottle of hair dye that is usually sold in Asia... specifically China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan...
And I have never been happier about it. I found a nice purple permanent hair dye that works wonderfully on my hair. I thought I was just going to have to give up and keep dye in my hair for an hour and a half to have any kind of permanence. Now it looks like I don't. This makes me a happy Phoenix.^-^
