Oh, I love that pat and Mr. Pat were picking tomatoes at the Julie Van Arcken wedding. That symbolizes those guys to me. Picking luscious tomatoes from the vines on a glorious day in nice outfits.

Anna Nicole (blog entry) Still thinking about Anna Nicole!

The Stranger had a nice cover this week, although I don't agree with David Schmader's article about her. I think it's clear where her pain came from. She was abandoned by her father, grew up in a miserable t... read more

My interview! (blog entry) Questions from Jennif:

1. Do you remember the night you wrote your name on the pub table?

Not at all, although I remember things about that era.

2. What do you really think of Shamus?

He is a brilliant and talented individual who has... read more

What happened in Loyal Heights last weekend (blog entry) Look what the wind did in the park across the street! We woke up to this Saturday morning, and ran out to take pictures acting like we did it. I had nothing to do with this, although I've certainly had fantasies.

Autumn is a beautiful time ... (blog entry) It was so darn pretty in Ballard this weekend I almost cried. Trees are orange, skies are blue. The Ballard Farmer's Market is still there every Sunday, with almost all the vendors (except the berry ladies, sadly) still in attendance. The Tall ... read more

Oyster Fest 2005! (blog entry) After the shucking competition, they pass out free oysters at the Annual Oyster Fest in Shelton. Those in the know bring their own cut lemons and Tabacso sauce in a little bag, and you can slurp all the oysters you want! The Oyster Fest is held... read more

Still thinking about Anna Nicole!

The Stranger had a nice cover this week, although I don't agree with David Schmader's article about her. I think it's clear where her pain came from. She was abandoned by her father, grew up in a miserable town, married at 17, had to raise her son alone, turned to stripping for money, and was the subject of negative publicity and accused of gold digging for years. Who wouldn't be depressed?

Her estrangement from her family is not because her mother ... read more

1. Do you remember the night you wrote your name on the pub table?

Not at all, although I remember things about that era.

2. What do you really think of Shamus?

He is a brilliant and talented individual who has gone horribly astray and is Bukowski'ing his life away.

3. Which upcoming local election are you following closest?

43rd District, Washington State Legislature, of course!

4. Where in the world would you like to go for your 60th birthday... read more

It was so darn pretty in Ballard this weekend I almost cried. Trees are orange, skies are blue. The Ballard Farmer's Market is still there every Sunday, with almost all the vendors (except the berry ladies, sadly) still in attendance. The Tall Boys, a very entertaining old-time string band, perform on the sidewalk.

That annoying coffee shop expanded. One latte place on Ballard Avenue and it has to be those people I can't stand.

After the shucking competition, they pass out free oysters at the Annual Oyster Fest in Shelton. Those in the know bring their own cut lemons and Tabacso sauce in a little bag, and you can slurp all the oysters you want! The Oyster Fest is held on the Fair Grounds, and there's a little historical museum where you can see this twig collection.
