Building the future through leading by example and educating people in fun ways. Helping people find the wisdom and knowledge they need to make the right choices that will help the future be a better and healthier place for us all. I call it Holistic Civilization.

That sums up who I am and what I am about. The projects mentioned here are the manifestation of years of research in a variety of fields. They are:

The Realms of Legend (TheRealmsofLegend.com)

A project to build a year round historic, mythological and environmental education and entertainment facility.

Applied Ecotechnical Innovations - Renewable energy and Ecotechnical options for a sustainable society.

HELMS - The Historic and Ecological Living Medieval Society, a 501c3 educational society focusing in historic, social and environmental education.

It is all designed to make the future of our civilization more healthy and sustainable while being applicable to all parts of the planet and all income levels. The Sustainable Civilization Infrastructure Template (SCIT) is a prototype for a way of providing basic city/town/village level infrastructure and services while working in harmony with nature so that civilization may survive and continue to improve.

It is obvious to most that our society cannot continue as it has, and will not. It must change, and it will change, either in a controlled way, or as a result of potentially catastrophic external factors. You cannot stop change, but you can influence it, and you do every second of every day whether you try to or not.

Far too many negative results have come from western consumer culture such as the abuses heaped on the environment and exploitation of third world nations for the resources they have. Even the family, romance and personal relations have all suffered greatly in a society that is so focused on material wealth instead of the things that matter most to people in the longer term.

The two biggest problems I see with solving these problems are education and hope. People need a lot more of both. This is what I hope to do with the projects we are pursuing. We intend to give people a reason to hope for a better future and to educate them about their options and how they can shape it rather just sit back and be victimized by the tide of events.

I am the founder of The Realms of Legend, a project designed to bring environmentally and socially positive educational entertainment to a much wider audience in a way that is fun, enriching and engaging. It is also intended to serve as a prototype of what is possible when you combine the best principles of environmentally friendly design and more realistic and healthy approaches to live and our responsibility to each other on this planet. In so doing it also embraces corporate responsibility and all of the social and ethical considerations necessary for a corporation to be responsible and truly sustainable. This uses the SCIT approach being developed by Applied Ecotechnical Innovations.

Our approach combines the best modern technologies with the best historic concepts and in bringing them together promotes a quality of life that is comfortable, fulfilling, rewarding, healthy, family friendly, egalitarian and socially and ethically responsible.

These methods are also intended to function as a prototype for other towns, villages and cities throughout the world, allowing western civilization to become more eco and human friendly and sustainable and yet still apply to struggling or developing nations so that they may completely skip over the most wasteful stages and go directly to a more healthy and sustainable way of living and being able to live well and happily into the future.

The facility is intended to be the fulfillment of the things that I and so many others of similar inclination have dreamed of and at the same time it is also intended to make our environmental and social message much more appealing to a wider range of people and in so doing give them hope for the future while they gain familiarity with their options. It is also intended to develop working methods, techniques, skills and sources of supply and manpower to allow our approach to be applied anywhere on the planet. We intend it to be the seedbed that helps spawn a vast forest of change for the better.

It all takes place in an atmosphere of beauty, excitement, fun, romance and positive entertainment and recreation.

Our main site is to be built on several thousand acres of strip mined land which will be reconditioned using our methods. That is just the first benefit to the environment and society. Then we will build a prototype city of "A tomorrow that embraces the best of the past, present and future." This prototype city is modelled after a 15th Century Bastide, or fortified castle town similar to the 13th Century castles and towns built in Wales by Edward. We chose this model because it allows for portrayal of a style of living that is simpler and less materialistic or energy and resource intensive yet is still viable today.

It is also an excellent model of self-sufficiency and many other aspects of modern simpler and more sustainable living. For example a medieval city is an excellent model of recycling and reuse and were typically surrounded by all organic farms and other sustainably managed natural assets such as ponds, forests and wetlands.

We believe this will be an ideal setting for people to enjoy themselves, relax and entertain themselves even while they learn more about how they could simplify their lives and learn to live more sustainably.

In parallel to the main historic area we also will feature a full fledged themed entertainment facily similar to modern theme parks but far more immersive and environmentally friendly. This area too will be a model of efficiency and eco-positive approaches, making it the most environmentally friendly way for people to pursue themed entertainment. One example is the use of locally produced energy to power rides and other forms of energy reuse, reduction and reclamation. This is the excitement side of the facility, where the young and the adventurous can have an intensely awesome experience while still going a little easier on the planet and it's resources.
