Politica Spectrum

For those of you who are tired of the dichotomy of the 'Right wing' and 'Left Wing', here is a political spectrum based on a Cartesian quadrant.

The left side of the graph represents collectivism, or collective ownership of property. The right side represents Corporatism, or Corporate ownership of property.

The top of the graph represents Authoritarianism, with the least amount of social or individual rights, the very bottom of the scale represents Libertarianism or Anarchism, with maximum social or individual rights.

The fact that Mussolini, Hitler and Stalin exist in three different quadrants demonstrates how incoherent this system is for describing political ideology.

Hmm, I wonder how Stalin ended up at the bottom of social axis as extreme social left. Individual and social rights were far from flourishing in Soviet Union of his time and things such as gulags and NKVD should put him somewhere above Amish on par with Musolini and certainly in same quadrant with Hitler. Or perhaps swapping labels between Marx and Stalin dot would be fair enough.

This is another site with a similar Cartesian graph. There is a test that you can take yourself, to determine where you are on the chart. Also, it has explanations for why people are placed where they are.

Included are such things as the composer's political spectrum...showing where Wagner and Tchaikovsky are. Also included is a diagram showing where American politicians in the primaries are.
