Can you see the real me? My LiveJournal

This has been going 'round LJ lately, and I kept thinking I'd already posted it, but I actually posted to Tribe. So, for posterity and such, though I'm late to the party, so late half the people have gone home and the other half are too drunk to talk.

I agree with [info]miss_mimsy, it seems to have been made by a 16-year-old. Tops.

1. Is there anyone on your friends list you would ever consider having sex with?

Yes, and have.

2. Sex in the morning, afternoon or night?

Generally night, due to scheduling more than anything else. Nothing like a morning when no-one has to be anywhere anytime, though!

3. What side of the bed do you sleep on?

Usually the right, when lying face up. Sometimes the middle.

4. Pork, beef, or chicken?

Yes, please! Actually, fish, if it's from a trustworthy source. My stomach is the canary in a coal-mine of stomach bugs.

5. Have you ever had to pull over on the side of the road to puke?

Once, yes. I had an acquired lactose intolerance which I discovered on the way back from dining out.

6. Have you ever taken your clothes off for money?

No.

7. Shower or bath?

Quick shower to get the worst grime off, followed by a long hot bath with scents and bubbles and turning on the hot tap with my toes to prolong the relaxation, followed by a rinse in the shower. But usually just a shower.

8. Do you pee in the shower?

No.

9. Mexican or Chinese?

Usually mexican, for a very Californized value of Mexican. I like the melted cheese.

10. Do you want someone aggressive or passive in bed?

Why limit myself? Both have their enticements.

11. Do you love someone on your friends list?

Several someones.

12. Do you know all the people on your friends list?

Tribe Answer:

There are two people on to whom I haven't spoken in person. One works Dickens and I will figure out who she is and introduce myself, some year, maybe this. One is a former teen idol, which I did not realize for over a year.

LJ Answer: No, I've probably met about 3/4s of them IRL. LJ lends itself to reading interesting friends-of-friends and people of whom one is a fan.

13. Love or money?

Wouldn't give up love for money, both would be nice.

14. Credit cards or cash?

Debit cards. And cash. Carrying cash and staying away from ATMs is the first step to a healthy budget.

15. Has there ever been anyone in your family you wish wasn't?

Not really.

16. Would you rather go camping or to a 5 star hotel?

I like to sleep comfortably and take long baths.

17. What is the weirdest place you have had sex?

On a BART train. Or behind a waterfall.

18. Would you shave your entire body (including your head) for money?

Would have to be a life-changing amount. Maybe a hundred thousand (If it were, say, a million, I'd be wealthy enough to be charmingly eccentric.) I'd do everything but the head for a thou or so.

19. Have you ever been to a strip club?

Yes, the Nob Hill Male in the early '90's. Not sexy.

20. Ever been to a bar?

*A* bar? No. Is this one of those memes that started in a high school? (Actually, I don't do much time in bars, but I have been to several.)

21. Ever been kicked out of a bar or a club?

No, though I and my party have been asked to quiet down in a few restaurants.

22. Ever been so drunk you had to be carried out of somewhere?

No.

23. Kissed someone of the same sex?

Who hasn't? Seriously. Has anyone on my f'list NOT?

24. Favorite drink?

In winter, peppermint hot chocolate, in summer a combo of mint, green and black iced tea.

As for alcohol, Bombay Sapphire, rocks or in any of several combinations. However, the sweeps' MaiTais are an impressive pick-me-up

25. Had sex in a movie theater?

Bill Clinton would say I haven't.

26. Had sex in a bathroom?

Yes, though not a public one.

27. Have you ever had sex at work?

No, despite the urging of several sig-Os. I can't think of anything less titillating.

28. Have you ever been in an "adult" store?

Yes. Again, has anyone on my f'list NOT?

29. Bought something from an adult store?

Yeah.

30. Have you been caught having sex?

Yes.

31. Does anyone have naughty pics of you?

Does the Dark Garden window count?

32. Have you ever had sex with someone and called them the wrong name?

No. Only called somebody the wrong name in an argument, I think.

33. Who do you think has the guts to repost this?

Buncha people already have!

So, we went to a Harry Potter themed party (with the lyrics of the Hogwarts School song as our version of the invitation-requested "Harry Potter Themed Performance Art." And everyone sang!)

Catherine wanted to be Ginny Weasley, so I loaned her a striped sweater of mine (the one I wore to be Betty Cooper at the last Toon Town Hop. It's got comic-book colors AND is Weasley-ish), but didn't dye her hair red.

I decided to go easy on myself and be a wizard trying to pass as a muggle. Polka-dot housedress open over sweater and capris, with a scarf tied around my head and decorated with earrings. I explained my concept to Catherine, and she ran to her dress-up box and brought me a polka-dot scarf, a feather boa and a lei!. I knotted the scarf as a tie with our hostess-provided paper clip portkey as a tie-tack, wore the lei as intended (though not over a sweater and a polka dot housedress) and wore the boa as a belt.

The point of the story? I LOVE THAT KID! She gets it!

From the blog Strange Maps, a wonderfully Victorian map of Europe in 1870; visual commentary on the Franco-Prussian War.

(thanks to [info]terpsichoros for pointing to the site, specifically this map of US States with the names of countries matching their GDPs.

A feed exists at [info]strangemaps.)

...and I Know Where I've Been

Re: My favorite Cockney practice! Re: Pet Peeves (in Dickens Fair History Snobs) I will give you (and Karsten) that, particularly as someone who tends to stand almost in fourth position naturally, but whose Dickens characters' home position is wider than first, with the right foot ready to run.

My favorite Cockney practice! (in Dickens Fair Cockneys) Maya Angelou's "And Still I Rise" is about a different cocky underclass, but it makes EXCELLENT Cockney!

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Do... read more

Using only song names from ONE ARTIST, cleverly answer these questions. Consider yourself tagged if you like.

Try not to repeat a song title. It's a lot harder than you think! Repost as "my life according to (band/artist name).

believe we're of an age where we should expect to lose people of our parents' age and older; 2008 was stealing loved ones long before their time.

And, on a smaller scale, it was very rude of him to laugh at our pre-Dickens flu shots and find a different strain of Crud to throw at us, one that hangs on for months no matter how we treat it and ourselves!

Also, if I promise to be even more reliable and pro-active, and far more punctual, could 2009 bring me a nice job? Just one, that's a... read more
