Re: Crappy Cropper (in Tribe.net Brainstorm) > so, here's an idea...crop the photo BEFORE posting it on Tribe. That's what I do.

That is LAME! What if you want people to be able to view the full photo?

Crappy Cropper (in Tribe.net Brainstorm) I thought it was about time for another thread (how many are they now? 100?) about how the photo cropper sucks.

It used to work for me about 50% of the time. Now it works 0% of the time.

Re: Pennywise aside, (in The Cotton Candy Connection) The problem is, how are you gonna show a giant spider on film?

No matter what way you slice it, it's gonna be cheesy (and not scary).

Shelley on Creative Inspiration

A man cannot say 'I will write poetry'. Not even the greatest poet can say it, for the mind in creation is as a fading coal, which some invisible influence, like an inconstant wind, awakens to transitory brightness; this power arises from within, like the color of a flower which fades and changes as it is developed, and the conscious portions of our nature are unprophetic either of its approach or departure.

Percy Bysshe Shelley, _The Defense of Poetry_

Lear on the Hypocrisy of Authority

LEAR
Thou hast seen a farmer’s dog bark at a beggar?

GLOUCESTER
Ay, sir.

LEAR
And the creature run from the cur? There thou mightst
behold the great image of authority: a dog’s obeyed in office.
Thou rascal beadle, hold thy bloody hand.
Why dost thou lash that whore? Strip thine own back.
Thou hotly lust’st to use her in that kind
For which thou whipp’st her.

I have recently seen this man in action, playing wingman to his Maverick as he charmed Polish woman in Chicago bars. He is our generation's Marcello Mastroianni.

Ewa will melt in his mouth, not in his hands.

A COCK and a BULL, said Yorick

I spent three days in Istanbul over the weekend. My mother and sister are there for three weeks, and I decided to fly over to see them (since it's not far from Krakow). This was my first time in a remotely Middle Eastern country, and it was quite an experience.

The first thing that comes to mind is the Call to Prayer five times daily. The song gets transmitted via speakers set up at the top of every mosque. Different mosques have the timing of their call offset so that you hear various... read more

Czech Budweiser, that is!

It bears no relation to the American excuse for beer by the same name. In fact, the Czech company is not even allowed to import it into the US due to trademark litigation with Anheuser-Busch.

Why do I care, you ask? I'm usually not one to get crazy about beer. But this Czech Budweiser (the dark variety) tastes like liqufied dark chocolate goodness! I've never had anything like it! I tasted it for the first time at the brewery which produces it in Prague. ... read more

I was invited to a friend's house in a small town outside of Krakow yesterday evening for some Easter Monday festivities. Many of her friends are musicians, so she asked me to bring my guitar. There was a lot of piano and guitar playing, singing, and dancing! I felt bad that I don't know more Polish popular songs, but I'm learning them, one by one.

Here I am singing one of the handful of Polish songs I know:

The words to this song were co... read more

I finally received news that I got a positive decision on my application for permanent residence in Poland!

This is huge news, as I no longer need a visa at all and I can theoretically stay here forever!

Next stop, Polish citizenship!
