Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe?

   Sun, January 27, 2008 - 3:07 PM
Since chocolate chip cookies are basically non-existent in Poland, and my reputation for being a good cook is spreading around here, I decided that I will have to bake some for my friends here. Hence, I am looking for the best recipe for chocolate chip cookies.

I am looking for something really classic with dairy, sugar, and all that good stuff, obviously from scratch. Who can help me out?

Cook's Illustrated did some testing in an issue at some point in the past couple of years. This might be the recipe:

If I can dig up my copy, I'll give you the details.

I haven't a recipe right at this moment, but the question is, if chocolate chip cookies are not to be found in Poland, where will you buy chocolate chips?

And I might add, in a Paris hotel I stayed at, they seemed to think it was an American breakfast food, and served them with the AM buffet. But that was fine with me!

chocolate chip cookies are as much a part of breakfast as the new girl scout thin mint edy's ice cream flavor. i'd go with the classic hershey's chocolate chip recipe if i were you. can't go wrong. and if you can't find actual chips, just buy hershey's chocolate and chop it up into little squares. or better yet, what's your addy i'll smuggle you some through the mail.

Yes!!! I used to read Cook's Illustrated. Their stuff is amazing! I'm thinking any cookie recipe that calls for one whole egg and one yolk has got to be good.

I'm pretty sure I can find chocolate chips here, although I'm not sure what kind.

La La, if I can't find Guittard bittersweet chips here, I might take you up on that offer!

I trust Nestle's too, as well as anything by Martha Stewart. Here's a Martha recipe for soft and chewy choc chip cookies:

Cook's Illustrated would be my vote too. I found this recipe on their site, which might be the same as what Heath posted-
We could ship some chocolate chips, if you have trouble!
