kittens away!
Both Clyde and Nuit have been adopted. Hooray!clyde alias clydicus minimus
adopt clyde today!I have healthy, fun kittens that need permanent homes.
Hi Everyone! We have kittens! They are fun, adorable, healthy, friendly and loving. They were ferals that we rescued and have socialized. They are very social right now and one of them even went home with some friends and they're all in love. They HAVE had their shots, all been fixed, FIV and FLV negative and treated for worms and fleas so they DO NOT have worms or fleas. one blk & white short-hair male and one all black short-hair female. Please email us if interested or forward to anyone who you think would be. Tell us a little about yourself and leave a phone number and we'll contact you to set up a time to meet and play with them.PS We will ask for a very reasonable adoption fee to help cover the cost of their care & treatments. Thanks again!
I saw a dog get hit by a car today
I was cycling up mission st around bernal heights when chaos broke out. three chihuahuas ran out into the very busy street and one of them doubled back to her owner and was struck. I was in shock (still am) and even more so as the guy that hit the dog kept driving. As he drove by me I screamed at him "you should stop" but he kept on. I took after him on my bike, I didn't know what else to do, I looked back at the owner who was screaming for her dog and saw that her dog was a crying in pain. I booked down hill trying to catch up to him and managed to do so as he was stuck at a freeway entrance.I screamed at him "You just hit someone's dog, why didn't you stop?" with no remorse at all he said "the dog ran out in the street" .
Again, I yelled to that he should take some responsibility but he nothing more for me but that it was the dog that ran out in front of his car.
His car , his fucking mercedes "kompressor" with fucking vanity plates. I was so in shock by the whole thing, I cycled quickly back up the hill to try and find the owners, but no luck. I was on an errand in potrero hill and still couldn't shake was had happened, so I went to SPCA and talked to the people there. Yes, the dog and the owners had come in, I offered to be a witness and that if the SPCA could relay the message to the owners that I had the license plate info they could call me.. The dog didn't make it. I feel so sad and really angry at the jerk for not stopping.
Sure, the dog ran out in front of him but where is the humanity? Where is this guy's heart? I guess he had a business meeting to get to.
People love your animals a little extra today. I am.
coming back to San Francisco
After 3 years of living in Oakland, Celestina and I have moved back to SF. I'm ecstatic about it, I feel like I'm falling in love. Our new place is in the Outer Mission/Excelsior neighborhhood. There is a huge park a block away, lots o' restaurants and best of all it's quiet. Right now church bells are gently chiming. ahh.West Oakland was getting me down, i just couldn't live in our funky house on Adeline anymore. The 580 freeway, the recycling center with it's constant sound of breaking glass, the cart pushers all the constant garbage dumped EVERYWHERE! It was making me depressed there was just too much for me to filter out. My well being was at stake. Now I'm not knocking Oakland, I'm glad I had a chance to live there.
There are alot of changes happening in Oakland some for the better, some for the worse. Gentrification is a big factor in my old neighborhood. Where brand new condos are being built up (at half a mill) right next to Victorians and homeless encampments under the freeway. Artist warehouse/communities still thrive in Oakland where it seems non existent in SF. But, even those same warehouses are under threat as well.
The things that I loved about living in Oakland were, the old Victorians, soul food, the Parkway, BBQ, rescuing feral cats/kittens and most of all living next to Russell and Grace Robinson. They have been living on Adeline for the last 50 years and have seen their church leveled to make way for the 580 freeway, their children grow and move away, their neighborhood change. They looked out for us, told us that having young people next door made them feel young. I will miss them the most, I wish that we could have packed them up and moved them with us.
I'm home back in the city that I love warts and all.
bye bye Syd

if I were a cat, or at least if I were a bio cat
this is what I'd look like. Our neighbor next door has been feeding a colony of 9 feral cats for god knows how long. When I moved in goin' on 2 years it was my self imposed duty to fix all the adults, catch, socialize and adopt out all the kittens. I have over the span of time, caught 21 kittens, trapped and fixed 13 or so adults. As of this week my work is finished, the pic is of Pride and he is the last of my kittens.
Only two kittens I wasn't able to catch, they are adults now and at least fixed so, despite feeling broken hearted, I know that there won't be anymore kittens running around.
How do I feel about all this, a little sad actually. My nest is empty and I won't be catching any kittens, at least not from next door.
Homeless cats and feral cats especially seems to be a big problem in the east bay, I will probably continue to trap stray ferals and get them fixed and maybe be a foster through an organization. It's been alot of work, but it's been worthwile.
