Floating On By Is The Object Of Crisis:

A couple of co-workers produced this, assembled from a book that was given to them by a Korean couple that were trying to convert them while they were on their lunch break:

Jonathan is still helping with the ducks from the oil spill. I went with him one night to help out myself though we were only there for a couple of hours. I got to hold ducks while a woman fed them with a tube.

A second group of ducks were released at Heart's Desire beach up north on the Point Reyes peninsula. On Thanksgiving, Jonathan took me up there to see where the release was. It was like visiting a lake, but it was all salt water. There were sea shells and dead jellyfish all over. Some older people were having a barbecue.

We then ate at a fake German restaurant and opted for roast beef instead of turkey.

My body aches and my throat is sore (hanging around at the theater after hours with only people that smoke may have had something to do with it). I'm bored out of my mind. Jonathan is sick too but is making the most of his time helping to clean up and document oil-covered ducks an hour north of here. If you watch the evening news tonight or Good Morning America tomorrow morning, you might see him in his hazmat suit. I feel silly contemplating calling out of my 4 hour shift at the bookstore tomorrow while he's spending his entire two days off helping in the clean up efforts from morning 'til night. I wish he was here but I'm proud of him for contributing so much of his time and effort. Ducks will forever look toward him fondly.

I went more than a few years watching next to no television whatsoever, but now that I have cable I find myself channel surfing constantly. Stranger still, I record all the shows I actually want to see so it's not like I'm desperate to catch something I want to see. I feel silly. I'm going to read my book instead.

I neglected to mention here but a week ago last thursday we had to put our elderly cat citizen Eydie to sleep. It's true, she used to pee on all my stuff and that created somewhat of a disconnection between us but sitting there in that animal hospital I've truly never felt such sorrow before. My sinuses were all out of whack at work the next morning. Sad. On a high note, we have another animal in the Parker St. family tree: a blood red Betta fish named Isamu. Needless to say he can be a little crabby at times but he doesn't poop on the carpet like Moira does when she's mad at us.

I feel sick and terrible but I can't fall back asleep. Good thing I have to leave for work in an hour or so. More later.

Today started out okay. After getting to work late, I managed to make good use of my time and fixed up the magazine section real good. It's not officially my area right now but it's pretty much going to hell every day I'm not there to tend to it. I then had a few hours before I had to work at the super market (I gave them my notice and am graciously working through the end of next week). Somewhere between having lunch and changing for my other job I lost my cell phone. Well, rather I probably left it sitting on the baby changing station in the restroom of the bookstore while I was changing. The worst part: it wasn't turned in and a phone call was made from it two hours after I last saw it. Every time I tried to call it, it went straight to my voice mail message like it was turned off. I'd hoped some kind person would've found it and turned it in at customer service but judging from the people I usually see in the restroom in the bookstore, I'm not at all surprised.

My shift at the market seemed to go on forever and ended with an hour of me walking all around the El Cerrito Plaza shopping center collecting shopping carts. It sounded like fun at first (I had the ipod with me and listed to a shuffle of Pizzicato Five songs the whole time) but it grew to be incredibly exhausting and frustrating and it started to rain about halfway through my trek. I'm not sure if I'm getting sick now or I'm just that tired. Tomorrow I have the same exact shift to go through. For once I hope I wake up with the flu.

Good news?: The theater and I have reconciled our differences and have decided to give it one more shot. Of course, you know what this means for me and the super market. Things weren't panning out quite as we'd hoped anyway. At least on my end of it. All of this moving around has just about got my nerves shot. I just hope the damage isn't permanent.
