about me
I own Qamar's Treasures, a primarily web based business specializing in Bellydance costuming accessories. I design and make Sleevie Wonders, which are beautiful flowing arm gauntlets, available in an ever changing array of colours. Additionally, I am an authorized distributor of Eye Kandy Cosmetic glitter, and sell hip scarves, bindis and ethnic jewelry. My Business profile is located here:

In my non-dance life, I am a night shift registered nurse working three 13 hour shifts a week, which leaves approximately three and a half full days for pursuing my passions, amongst which is bellydance. I have an overdeveloped sense of humour and a penchant for obscenely bright colour combinations, manifested both in dance attire and in outrageous scrubs for work.
Its been a long long day, and a full one at that. I woke at the arse-crack of dawn, which coincidentally was at the time Les was getting up in California to start his insanely long work day. My alarm wasn't set to go off for hours, but I just couldn't get back to sleep. I read for a bit to see if that would make me sleepy again (I only had about four hours of sleep before I woke) but it made no difference and before long I finished my book. My travel nurse recruiter called this morning (I call her my nurse pimp) and it looks like my first assignment might be in Littleton New Hampshire. It would be taking med surg overflow patients on a pedi unit. She asked if I minded being around children because some nurses do--at my first job as a new grad my unit took care of all ages from neonate up through end of life, so I actually do have some pedi experience, though not any in the last three years or so. I just got the call--we got the apartment. I sign the lease this afternoon. :) What a relief that is...now comes the frantic packing and cleaning to be out of here in two and half weeks. Its going to be one hell of a next month with all these changes. My youngest isn't happy about the apartment itself, but it'll be fine with fresh paint, shampooed carpets and a bit of airing out.
Yes Aunt Bea, I corrected the typo and will no longer be paining the apartment. ;)

After looking at a ton of places, I think I may have finally landed an apartment. Its not a great place, and its small and dark, but it is cheap and convenient to town, plus has a really bright enclosed porch of its own, which makes a beautiful sunroom or third bedroom in a pinch. I think the porch is the best thing about the place--it would be where I would want to eat my meals, sew, and spend most of my time there. The owner seems cheerful and easy to get along with. Qamar is one of the main reasons that I am grateful for tribe, because without it I might have missed out on knowing her.

Qamar Al-Shefa'a is a wonderful dancer, one who exudes an enormous amount of joy,skill and passion in her dance, a real treat to watch perform.
Qamar's amazing stage presence captivates you, and draws you into her dance from the moment she enters the stage.
Oh yeah,.... and i dont think i have ever seen anyone who can control a sword as she can,

She's not only a sweet, funny person... well she goes for nursing jokes anyway....but talented too!.... I am the proud owner of a Qamar Original. She very generously shared her talent with me to keep me from belly dance nakedness. My Qamar Original is a very beautiful Thobe, which I have to watch at class, cause Maiya is trying to figure a way to steal it. Thanks again, and I hope to see many other Originals in the future.
