Ra makes me laugh, plays well with others, graciously hosts on short notice, and often gives me pause as he speaks thoughtfully and shares the music he makes.

Rahul is a bit of a joker, a kind soul, a good friend, at times serious - usually kidding around. He also knows how to throw a great dinner party, and has a unique sense of style.
I'm so happy to be in his circle!

Ra (here-to-after referred to as big Ra, for the capital R, cuz actually I am taller than him, I think) is one of those people that you connect with and instantly becomes family. He is the charming host who shows you all the quirky places in his neighbourhood, the talented and promising producer who takes you for a listening session in his studio, the supportive friend who comes to all your gigs while you're in town, and someone you can talk to for hours and never run out of enticing subjects. Its like you've known him your whole life, even though you only know the tip of the iceberg, really...

Let me preface this by saying that I am not what I would call a 'spritual' person. I'm a fact-based life form. Yet there is no other way to describe Ra then as one of the most beautiful souls I have ever met. No matter what is going on, what may have him down, he always keeps his sunshiny disposition and smile. Makes it kinda appropriate that his 'name' is Ra, doncha think? I don't get to see him ofter, but when I do it is always a joy. You can't help but feel good when Ra is around. All hail Ra, lord of the sun!

From S. Van Ness or 12th come up Otis and make a Right on Brady
1 block to Colton and take a right.
There is a parking lot to pull into with plenty of parking, and it is obvious from there.

When you arrive please be sure to do the following.
1. PUT YOUR DONATION IN THE JAR!!! This is a non profit community funded event...if there is not enough money in the jar at the end of the night, I come around and ask everyone for more...usually half of you have not put your duckets in the bucket...make it happen people so that I don't have to stop playing and make announcements and all that jazz...:) As always no one turned away for lack of funds, and if that is the case feel free to offer yourself in service to the jam/community is some way.

2. INTRODUCE YOURSELF to those that don't know you...not just that you don't know. This is a community created event...if you want community, you have to put your toys down once and awhile, and stare slack jawed in awe of the talented and awesome people in the room...and talk to them. I vote for hugging them too. If you are not sure who to hug come find the sparkly girl in the hula hoop whose outfit reminds you of an 80's neon flashback and hug me...I will introduce you around!

3. Learn something new....you can do what you are doing alone in your living room, come to Spin Jam to learn something. There are many awesome and cool teachers in the room. Let us all be students of life and each other and share our bountiful abundance of skills and knowledge!

Looking forward to seeing all of you!

Just wanted to inform you about 2 upcoming shows of mine…

For both, I will be joined on stage by the very talented Allison Lovejoy on keyboards and vocals; we’re trying a new direction involving cabaret music and some jazz and classical influenced songs.
We will do a cover of an Emerson, Lake and Palmer song, if you know who they are.
I will also play some psy-dub/ethno-downtempo music.
Some of my newer work can be heard at: www.reverbnation.com/grooveyantra

Techkn0w (My Tech Blog)

Just wanted to write about my extremely negative experience about the Asus P5N-E motherboard for building a computer because I see many people having similar problems and this post might help. As a background, I bought an Asus P5N-E mobo with a Core Duo 6850 processor and 2GB RAM. I am a music producer and decided [...]

There are already a lot of articles, out there in the cloud, about how to use delegates because Windows Forms’ thread safety prevents a worker thread from updating it’s interface, yada, yada, yada. Then .NET 2.0 introduced the BackgroundWorker component that addresses the issue quite elegantly. Although there are a few articles about this also, I realize [...]

After discussions with a junior co-worker about build events of a C# project, I realized it was a good example of how people who have not worked in Enterprise type situations pigeon-hole themselves in the problem they are trying to solve and sometimes their solution might need rework later because they are not aware of [...]

Many people are looking for a clean way to concatenate the values of a column in a .NET DataSet to a string, so here’s a quick code snippet to do just that: //concatenate first names of persons found List listNames = new List(); //get names in a list foreach (DataRow row in dtPersons.Rows)       listNames.Add(row[“name”].ToString()); //concatenate all first names with a comma String concatNames [...]

Let’s dive a bit into coding this time… Any average line-of-business application needs to retrieve data from a database via stored procs, as a dataset or a scalar (single value). I thought it might be worthwhile to provide a quick reference by writing down the process and sample code for doing this with .NET using the Microsoft [...]
