I've divined for a lot of people in my life. Hundreds, in fact. Marisa is a rare bird .... SHE LISTENS!!! I think I enjoyed the reading as much as she did. Marisa is smart, funny, beautiful, open-minded, and a joy to talk to. L'Chaim Marisa! I'll throw those shells for you ANYTIME!

Only the most awsome-est Goddess on Tribe! Aren't you lucky to be in the presence of Her profile!
Seriously.
SisterMedusa rocks the house, and has lots of good teas. The kindest, most considerate hip chick out there, and she's crafty!

Keep shake'n what you got sister!

if there were a club for optimists and it needed a president, Ms. RadioBastet would NOT get my vote.

Current Words of Wisdom:

The democrats think there's a class war. They think class war has taken away the benefits from the old people and taken away the educational opportunities for the youth and taken away the benefits for the veterans and taken away the benefits for the veterans' wives and that we live in a time when the families of soldiers in combat are living on welfare.

And the republicans think class warfare is when the democrats mention any of that.

Iyawo Omi L'ade

Yemaya, by Maria Giulia Alemanno. I was initiated as a priest of Yemaya Okute in May of 2009. My ocha name is Omi L'ade, which means "Yemaya has given me a crown." I'm now a shiny new iyawo!

about me
I am a newly initiated priest of Yemaya Okute in the Lucumi/Santeria tradition, just beginning my Iyawo year in white as of May 2009. My father in ocha is Obatala Baba Acho. Maferefun the Iyaworaje!

I am also a loving wife, podcaster of Radio Bastet - Vintage Belly Dance Music, struggling student doula with the CBI program, amateur rootworker and graduate of cat yronwode's Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Course, ska/2-tone/beat generation devotee, future rose grower, MSTie, political lefty, mermaid freak-a-zoid, cat wrangler, book hoarder, offbeat movie lover, neophyte knitter barely past the scarf stage, and lapsed bellydance student. In spite of all this, I am frequently bored. What can I say - I'm flawed.

Blogishness (is next to Godishness)

The Souk! www.conjureoils.com/souk.htm

I am very proud to have had a (very small) hand in helping create this bellydance fragrance line! And if I do say so myself, it's one of the most luxurious that Conjure has yet put out. I'm not sure if I've posted it here before, but Conjure created a Radio Bastet oil a while back, as a special order item. I'm pleased to report that it's now a permanent part of The Souk! Check it out!!!

Shimmy on (and smell fabulous doing it!),

The Dancing Song

Mother Wisdom Speaks

I am the swinging of hips; I am the dance.
Do you feel the fire?
Do you hear the word?
Do not be afraid to move, to jump, to fly, to twirl.

Let your hair grow long.
Let your hair sing out like clouds across the sky, like clouds lit by the sun.
Let your hair wrap you in softness, in the mists of my delicate web.
I am being.

I am what becomes.
I am what... read more

Happy Winter Solstice, everybody! OK, I'm a tad early. But just to get you in the mood for your solstice celebration, I've got a little audio giftie for you. I always try to make this tune a part of my Winter Solstice observance. It's not specifically Pagan, but it captures that "dead of winter" iciness perfectly, and it does contain the line referenced in my subject header. How Winter Solstice can you get? The drone-y chant-y quality also greatly appeals to my Slavic heritage.

My mother-in-law died last Wednesday. We got a call that she was at Walla Walla General in the ICU in a coma. We drove up there right away, but she died 10 minutes before we got to the hospital. We got back today after spending the rest of the week helping to clean out her apartment at the retirement home and spending time with Byron's sisters and their husbands. Byron was very close to his mom and he's having a really hard time dealing with this. If you are so inclined to pray, I'd real... read more
